I changed the temps - to 99 - 102.5
I used to use the 103 temp as the point where we would take our bitches to the vet after they had puppies - it's the temp to get them on antibotics.
I have owned a few dogs and very very few had temps of 99 - in fact I can't think of any - other than when their temp was dropping before they had babies.

It's hard to grasp, especially with the current trend, but some people here are OK being corrected.
Hopefully Ed didn't go hide in a closet and cry because you said he was wrong.:laugh:

I have had only one with a normal temp of a hair over 99, actually. I think I have seen mostly about 101.
Of course, I have had slightly fewer dogs than Ed has had.
JJ, Since you should have figured out by now how stupid we all think this is, I wanted to add, for the sake of your dogs - WHY it is so wrong.
The reason marker training is so very effective is due to the fact that there are ZERO corrections/punishment for the dog. If they offer a "wrong" behavior for a new lesson which THEY DON'T YET UNDERSTAND - a simple "nope" or "uhuh" is the ONLY negative repercussion. By disciplining your dog in such a negative way for something he has no idea what you wanted, you have corrupted the training system entirely!! Instead of looking forward to working/training with you, your dogs are thinking "when is this crazy man going to throw me outside for some unknown reason???" (I left out the profanity part of what is going through their minds)...
Please go back and start at square one and STOP punishing your dog for YOUR poor behavior. With a bit more work on your part you COULD have them stop eating poopsickles..

Good point, Barbara, that despite my feelings about that post, I too should have explained what Aaron and you have explained.
To "correct" (punish, in this case) when a dog is still learning the behavior is not a "correction." It's just random abuse, completely bewildering to the dog.
What this owner is doing has zero to do with actual corrections, or with training, or especially with marker training.
This is NOT to say that corrections do not exist for marker trainers, or that people who marker train never use them. But what was posted about "when the dogs, who are in the initial stages of marker trg, do not comply" doesn't even fall into any "corrections" category. JMO!
