Kristi,
"orthopedic memory foam mattress"
I bought Lacey one of these beds from Dr. Foster Smith.
Think I spent about $100 for lg size,
but I bought the plastic zipper cover for the foam mattress (keeps the foam forever nice!) then got the print zip off cover for over that for easy laundry!
So, it is mattress, plastic liner cover, then print cover.
Lacey is 90# & Loves It!!

I asked my dogs about this....they said they were happy with the king size bed they already have

Kristi, just a thought about the chicken. Have you tried another supplier? Chicken can have additives and maybe he's reacting to an additive, not the chicken itself. Worth a try, if you don't know for sure...
Also, if you try a different supplier, keep the turkey out of the mix for now.
Good Point & Post!!
I have noticed at some stores (larger brand name), the 10# bags of chicken qtrs are "injected", & at the cheaper stores, "Saves-a-Lot", when reading the label on bag, this chicken appears not to be injected with solution.
I have found all the turkey to be injected, so I buy the turkey necks.
& guess what? I wasn't the "bright bulb" = Lacey turns up her nose at anything "injected", not real; I figured it out after more "investigation" & knowledge!!
Always learning here, Thank you Leerburg, & this board!
& Good Luck with you pup!

Phaedra, I do respect that your priority is the dogs. I 100% get that. Most people don't care enough. And I don't take this lightly. But do you know what kind of people look to adopt pitbulls? Not usually financially loaded ones who want to take on a pupppy with severe health problems.
I am well aware about the stereotypical pitt owner, as I worked at the Himane Society when BSL went through in Toronto, and also worked with a pitty rescue.
I'm not prepared to debate the topic of whether people should take on animals they can't afford in this thread.
I find it ironic that anyone is complaining about "stars" since I seem to be the only one with a differing opinion, and I lost a star for expressing it - "mean" or otherwise.
Let's not forget this is not a rescue dog either, this dog was recently purchased from a breeder.

I saw a memory foam bed at petsmart but it looked cheap, I will def look into the ones from foster and smith. We need our bed back too!
And Phaedra, I think its silly anyone is losing stars. I wasn't offended by your post or opinion. I get where you are coming from, esp when you have worked with rescues and seen so many animals not taken care of. But when we got Capone he was already 5 months old and in a shitty backyard in a kennel. He had lived in a kennel his whole life I was told. He didn't know how to go down stairs and walking in grass freaked him out the first time. Apparently the owner got kicked out of their home and could not keep him. We went to a new aquaintences house for a bbq, where Capone was now staying in the kennel outside. The guy there treated them like crap and was spraying them in the face with a hose (with the attachment so it comes out sharp) for barking. Capone was soooo sweet and adorable, we couldn't leave without him. Although we did pay some for him(they were trying to say he would sell for $4,000!), we took him home that night because it would have killed me to leave him there. We are also no longer "friends" with these people. It wasn't technically a rescue, but not exactly bought through a breeder with a contract and all that either.
Also, when we brought him home financially we were much better than today. My husband and I both were laid off within a month of each other. We also just purchased a house about a month before being laid off. It was completely unexpected and we are doing the best we can. For our whole family, not just Capone.
I think everyone should get their stars back. Were all adults here, with opinions of our own. No big deal =)

I get my meat from a BARF co op. I just started with them. I tried to change my order to all turkey to see if that helps this time. I buy a month at a time. Hopefully that works cause the lamb and stuff is all soooo much more expensive.
