Well, most of the time I could keep my dog away from the kid. However, this kid would come sneaking out of numerous doors of their home, he would come out of the neighbors door (his relatives live there), he would sneak around the corner of the buildings....this child was everywhere. You never knew where he was going to jump out of next. It was a nightmare. I've never seen anything like it, and I couldn't be happier that they're gone now.
OC would have been fun. I bet they never would have bothered us again

I agree with Richard and Vancamp, the handler is responsible to take control in any situation. If the handler has to step between his dog and this kid and scream at the the kid or whatever it take's to make this kid stop in his tracks and turn tail back to his parent,s. Just make sure you keep your body between your dog and the child. The handler is the alpha or at least should be, and needs to act accordingly.

Melissa - apparently they were playing ball and tossed it in my yard by accident. (These are partiers in their 40s, the neighbour has had his door kicked in by the police on a drug bust.) The same guy was back on top of my fence 5 minutes later when the ball came in my yard again. I had said call me or knock on my door if it happens. He knocked once. By the time I got to the door he was gone and already on top of my fence. Moron.

Laureen, This idiot is lucky this didn't happen in my yard at night. This is where you see if the time spent with your dog pays off. Then again it's what you train for, isn't it.

LOL Butch. His recall is great, even tho he was full out at the guy, when I called him he came back to me. Of course I let him go at the guy again. Hope he had to change his shorts.

Yes I agree, I too wouldn't have let him get a bite. On the other hand if I were working and my wife was home alone, My Lawyer would have to be contacted again, something similar had already happened once before.
Where I live no one goes into any backyard at night unless doing something unlawful.
Nuget at 16 months had a drug head by the thigh(good full grip I might add) trying to break-in my home when this a_ _hole knew I was off working.
It scared the hell out of my wife, Police wanted to shot my GSD until they realized what happened.
Rural living is the place for me!!!

Too bad you didn't have time to put the ole muzzle on and send the dog for the attack, that would have been fun! That is what I would have done, but I'm an a** hole hahah at night that guy prob would'nt even notice the muzzle especially if it was black like mine.

VanCamp,
DUH....It's been like that for weeks.
My favoite story was with my last Giant. There were about 4 teenage boys walking though the alley behind the house. Generally cutting up and teasing the dogs in the neighborhood. They climbed up on the dumpster that is behind the house. Then they started to tease the dog who was laying in the middle of yrd. They couldn't see me next to the fence pulling weeds. After they had a couple of minutes teasing the dog, who ignored them, I gave him a bite command. The dog was head and shoulders over the fence, all the kids fell off the dumster trying to keep away from him. I called him out and offered to let him out to "play" with them. Never saw them teasing the dogs anymore for some reason.....

Yes, that episode is nice to talk about now. For along time we were concerned about being sued by that dirtbag. Luckly his parents were really good people. Maybe they should have used a prong collor on him to correct him.
Lonny, even with a muzzle your dog can cause alot of damage. When these dogs do what intended for in a non sport atmosphere not all like what they see their dog is capable of. My wife wanted to get rid of Nug at first until she realized just what he did for her.
I know this dog could never be a compitetion dog, but keeps my wife safe and good company  when I'm away.
I hope my dog never has to bite anyone again, but I know he will step up to the task when required.
