Fried green tomatoes, sauteed okra, black eyed peas and ham.
Fresh off the tree citrus and advocados.
Vine ripened melon.
Squash pie.
Randy, Please tell me you have an easy recipe for fried green tomatoes. I tried them when I worked down south a few years ago and loved them. I've tried to recreate them back home, but haven't come close. That and a good pork bar-b-que would make my day.

Long John Silvers chicken and fish. with those little crunchies. Yup, commercial, processed, etc, etc.
But my grandparents used to take my brothers and me there on years ago. It was a special grandpa and grandma treat and that food still makes me happy.
I didn't know my grammy/grampa this way and now I'm going to go to Long John Silvers... something tells me I can just smear this all over my hips/rear and not bother having to brush my teeth...
Bwahahahahahahahaaaa!
Real chicken pot pie with excellent crust, especially with peas. And great veloute sauce (not Campbell's cream-of-anything soup).
Chicken pot pie will make me forget that I'm a vegetarian!
I had to laugh at this, I am not a vegetarian but I LOVE Chicken pot pie without the actual pieces of chicken. (or the peas )
For me the ultimate comfort food is actually a hot cup of tea, especially made by my English grandmother with a bit of real cream and sugar.
I love a good meatloaf with potatoes, or a roast that has been in the crockpot all day. Oh and if it has hollondaise sauce on it I am a happy girl
But when I am stressed or don't feel good I am not as big on a lot of the heavy traditional comfort food...I didn't grow up with it, and never even tasted meatloaf until I was a mother myself.
Really good egg drop soup, or a meal of lamb, humus and homemade pita, or a salad with cilantro and peanut sauce.
I was watching a travel show on PBS tonight and thinking I wanted to go Lebanon just to eat all of that food.

My son and husband love Long Johns and go every couple of months. I go with them every so often, but I always feel like I need to go home and wash my face afterwards. It is good but soooo greasy.
