I have seen all of them except insidious, we found the original 'Haunting' along side the new version, because the original was made in the sixtie's we wondered if the new one was more scary, but if you say the new one was lame, I will strike it off the list!
I did think Emily Rose was scary first viewing, but did you not feel like the alternative perspective made it less scary?? You know, empathetic toward her??
The original The Haunting used to be my all time favorite scary movie but it's now gotten so old that it's become a little cheesy. Guess that dates me a little. Still a fun scary movie and the cheesie-ness even makes it more fun.
BTW, the book The Haunting was based on, The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson, is fantastic.
The original Haunting was very good, the new one wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything special. The new one has better special effects, it's not a bad movie for a movie night, but if it's the only film you're watching I'd skip it.
I've never found exorcist movies very scary, I don't know if it's because I'm not a religious person, or if it's just not a concept that I find myself thinking hard about. It's the biological warfare movies that get me thinking the worst lol.
I plan on watching Trick R' Treat and The Crazies (remake) for horror this halloween, possibly with a few episodes of Fear Itself. Then we're having an Underworld Marathon because I like watching sexy werewolves and a friend of mine likes watching sexy vampires XD
I've also been recruited to call a friend of mine's house at a certain time because he and his girlfriend will be watching the ring and he wants to scare her further by having the phone ring and the caller (me) play a recording of "seven days" into it >_>
That is so mean!! you know that gutteral sound the boy in 'The Grudge'makes?? I do that to Sam from time to time, she FREAKS!! I am SUCH a bad mother lol!
Re the exorcist films, I watched the Exorcist only once,I just found it so disturbing, not scary, just freaky, I am an athiest so no objection on religious grounds, but just hated the little girl and the crucifix scene
Your friend is uber wicked getting you to scare his girlfriend, report back though, it's genius!!, Sam refuses point blank to watch it again!
I have a funny story about meeting the real Freddy Kruger, funny to me any ways. I was at a bar in Laguna Beach with friends and there was someone who looked real familiar standing next to me so I asked him "where do I know you from" he replied "probably the Late night Show" in a real A-hole response.
I didn't know that show he mentioned but then it hit me it's Freddy he was such an A-hole, JMO.
I leaned to my friends and said "did you see Freddy's Dead well it's gonna happen for real tonight"
I guess you had to be there but true story.
