When my Frosties go to the Bridge, I will be looking for another rescue dog. Not sure what breed... it doesn't really matter that much to me. When the dog calls to me, I will know.
I have a 17 month old blue merle Aussie, that I think is the great partner I could have. He's just great. But someday, if I ever get another dog I would like to get an Australian Cattle Dog for him to pal around with. But I'm kind of a one dog guy But I love the ACD's.
Or maybe a "long haired Malinois" ie Terv pup from a Mali litter.
Then you need a Jackson X Vodka pup. lol
I absolutely love the coat on Haiku. She looks like she stole it from a Golden Retriever. It's soooo soft. Plus she doesn't shed much. It also doesn't make me itch like my GSD or Presa.
All in all that's my next dream dog.... Male, long-coated mali. Let me know if you make any of those Kadi!

I imagine I will probably always have a GSD, plus, as Kelly says, whatever adoptees have called to me.
I admit, though, that Will's new pup's thread has started me thinking .....
At 59 years old and with a 3 year old Mal already in the house, I think we are done with getting new dogs, unless we want to replace our older gal, who's 15, when that awful event comes. However, if I could roll back the clock with everything we have now, I'd get another Mal in a heartbeat, just to apply what we've learned with our Bailey and avoid the mistakes we've already made. Even with our shortcomings as handlers, she's turning out to be an awesome dog and I can't imagine another dog being as rewarding unless it were a GSD or a Dutch Shepherd.
On the other hand, if we were to get Bailey a buddy eventually, we'd probably just settle for a mix like a Labradoodle, something just a little more sweet, lower drive, and lower energy. One super intense dog in our house is enough.

They do crop up once in awhile :-) I have one right now, named her Extra. As in Extra Fluffy :-) But I have to admit the first breeding I have planned for her is to a male I'm hoping doesn't carry coat, I find some people that want them but most don't. Not enough to have 1/2 a litter of fluffies.
Haiku looks a lot like Extra. Just enough coat to have that great coated look, not so much they are a PITA to keep groomed.
