It's going really well. I have gone back to clipping Jethro to a big belt around my waist, so I don't have to worry about an inadvertent escape while picking up poo. Also, stepping up training on the walk, he is getting more and more responsive. He is still prone to reacting to pedestrians, so we are being very careful and working his training around those situations. His dog reactivity has come down a lot, there a just a few known antagonists in the neighbourhood that he will get in a fit about. Even then, though, I am able to use my voice and body to help him turn away and shut it off.
I've started running with him, and it seems to be helping. His loping gait is perfect for my slow run, and we get in a nice synch of movement.
More solo outings for both Skipper and Jethro is definitely helping with both of them.

The running sounds great, and so does the belt-anchor!
Kind of like your gait-matching: One of my small dogs needs harder exercise, and I've started trotting with him. I trot and he flat-out gallops .... easy on me and great for him. :-)
