The long awaited xray
This morning she puked up all her breakfast. The only thing she could hold down was a couple frozen lamb shanks. She's stretching herself out more and sleeping A LOT - banking hours to get her through her labor no doubt
Looks like 9 or 10!

Wow. that's a bellyfull!! I think I can see 9 distinct spines, and a couple that are questionable - you are going to have your hands full, though I can see why she threw up - there was no room for her food in there!
If you have any storms coming your way, that's when she'll whelp - our GSD females ALWAYS whelped when it stormed.

Sounds about right! LOL - No storms approaching, they aren't a big thing here. But we did get enough snow to shut down a major bike race 2 weekends ago, so I would say the possibility of a snow storm in June is a reasonable one HAHA!
Weather network says sunny all week, I'm about to ruin that for everyone by jinxing it with my whelping...

That's a really nice whelping room you have set up there. I tried counting the little puppy spines, but there's so many, and they're all bunched up in there, so I'm not going to make any wagers on the number. It's definitely a big litter, though! I'm getting excited to hear all about it, but I know it's nothing compared to what you and your family are experiencing as her time approaches.

Its the smallest room in the house, and we don't use it for anything otherwise, so also convenient as far as not having to uproot everything in the home. I would have preferred to use my roomy training space. But the exit door to the dog yard is off the room and there would be dogs going in and out all day. Harder to get a consistent room temperature and Ironhide doesn't like ANYONE near her babies until they are around 4-5 weeks, then she is ok. So not ideal in any way. But it would have been nice to have some extra space HAHA!
I will do my best to take some nice pictures as we go, just depends on how fast puppies come I am hoping I can do a little photo shoot when they area couple days old, when they are fairly easy to place as long as they are fed and a heat pad is under them lol.

This knocks my socks off! So amazing. I love all the pictures immensely, but especially the ones with Ironhide's big belly and the teats. How charming.
The xray is wonderful. I showed the picts to my husband and some friends. There was a hell of laughter, when they saw the one of the whelping room and imagined you sleeping there. It seems to be quite comfortable though, just a pity you're not getting enough sleep. Hubby, friends and I were all trying to count those little spines but we weren't able to find out how many puppies you'll have. Certainly a huge litter! I counted with stalking eyes 15 !!!!!! (Don't take me seriously). But you should really be well prepared. Had a good laugh when I saw your food storage.
To your explanation of your 3-dog-pict. Again: ! What a clever girl you are. I will try this with mine too, but I already doubt they will keep the stand stay - though they have quite a good one - but all 3 beside each other??? And when I'd throw something in the air they'd all jump. Lack of proofing enough.
Wish you 15 times great luck. Can't wait, neither my friends. They're constantly asking me if it has already happened.

What an exhausting week!
Last Wednesday morning Ironhide's temperature dropped to 98.3. I had taken her temperature first thing in the morning, I took it again throughout the day, her temp went back up to normal by the afternoon, so I thought I had missed her temperature drop overnight. So we prepared for puppies! At 9:30pm she started acting restless, panting, circling - I stayed up all night! At 5am, everything stopped and she went to sleep. Like WTH!!?? So I watched her Thursday, Friday, Saturday, SUNDAY, AND MONDAY... every night she kept me up, then she slept all day.
She was so large at this point, she couldn't walk much and you could tell her legs weren't able to move properly without hitting her belly - how much longer could she go!? July 1st was her first due date, July 4th was the absolute last.
On Sunday July 2nd, her temperature dropped yet again, 97.9 this time - all of my mentors told me if the first drop was false, usually the second one is the real thing. So I checked her throughout the day, her temperature slowly crept up back to normal. I checked her again before bed, and it dropped AGAIN!!! 97.3! Ok this MUST be the real drop right?
IT WAS! Lol
Born Tuesday July 4th, between 5:15am and 7:54pm, 9 GORGEOUS, FAT puppies - 5 Males (All Sable) and 4 Females (2 Black, 2 Sable). Puppies weighed between 1 lb 3 oz and 1 lb 5 oz. So far everyone is doing good. Ironhide is on antibiotics, she spiked a fever, likely from her retained placentas. Hopefully it will resolve soon. She is such a good mom and being her 3rd litter, she doesn't need my help much. I make sure she is fed/watered and pottied, she pretty much does the rest.
Very much looking forward to these guys growing up! I will post more pics once I have rested a bit more, or if anyone wants I put some pics up on my FB page. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, but if you want to message me I am happy to send it.
Our 4th of July Litter - Our theme names are TBA
