Bill, why would you tend to believe that an ecollar is not an appropriate tool while on the street? As an example....sometimes a K9 and it's handler get separated.....sometimes due to circumstances beyond the officers control, calling the dog is not an option.....yet because of the ecollar the handler can press a button that sends a high pitched signal that only the dog can hear.....the dog then knows where to find the handler.......I have heard of stories where this type scenario happened and because of the collar the handler ended up with the dog by his side in a situation where had the dog not been there, the handler would have been seriously injured, if not killed.........not on your life? Given that same scenario what would you do......place the dog in a muzzle?
Ecollars are becoming increasingly important in every day street work......yes I said street work....
Oh yes...and Bill please site where you have actual jurors making opinions backed by case law showing why ecollars have no place on the street. Last I knew LAPD were the most sued depts out there....oh wait...all the dogs there wear ecollars...what was I thinking? Again, please provide us with facts Bill not your fantasy opinion.
This thread is nearly 2 years old, and I think I'll take advice on PSD issues from people that are PSD trainers and actual police officers. . .not bullshit pro dog trainers.
It does bring up a good point though, people need to be very careful who they take training advice from on a webboard. There are a number of jokers on here that I wouldn't trust to train a rock. . .let alone my dog.
