Danielle,
I hope that you are having as much fun with your pup as we are having with ours. The male is my 18 yo daughters and the female is mine. It has been very interesting to watch them grow up together. They are soooooo different. The female Akasha is quite the little firecracker. She is full of energy and has to be kept busy or she starts looking for stuff to get into. The good thing is that she has been VERY easy to train. She is easily the smartest dog I have ever had
Her brother Keil is the total opposite of Akasha. He is very laid back and nothing seems to bother him. He is a smart boy but is much harder to get motivated.
We took both puppies herding this past summer and it was very interesting to see the difference between the two. Akasha was a natural and I was amazed at how good she was. Keil on the other hand really didn't want anything to do with the sheep. He did have a staring contest with one of the sheep but that was the extent of his interaction.
I would love to hear more about your boy
You'd honestly be suprised how well she does. The trainer that I was at used her as an example for other dogs. Some people who had dogs that refused to go on the dogwalk or the owners tried to make excuses why they couldn't weave, and she'd have be bring Annabel out to show them how it was done!
sure, it takes longer to train her, and no, she'll never be as fast as a border collie. but she could get her novice title, at least, and that's something i'd be very proud of!
This is like the Twilight Zone. . .the Leerburg Working Dog Discussion Board has turned into the Happy Scrappy Agility/Conformation/AKC Herding lets hear about everybodies super cute puppie wuppies chit chat board.
Lucky for me I'm the moderator and if I'm not mistaken the original question was answered as best as anyone on earth could do. Wait another 5 months and then you'll have a better idea.
So this trip through time and space has officially ended.
