I have been using Beowulf's Back to Basics chicken with good results. I also like Martin's K9 Formula. Steve's Real Food is great(prepackaged raw food, comes frozen or freeze dried) but expensive for me (I have a mastiff).

On a Rottie board I lurk on, most people swear by Canidae. In all the many times this question has been asked I don't reacall anyone ever saying anythign negative about Canidae. In fact, on the board it seems almost unanimous, pretty much all the barfers say if they had to feed kibble they would choose Canidae. It has worked well in my experience. I put my girlfriends cocker spaniel on it, after a week long detox (she was on kibbles and bits) she has done very well. Odor and coat color have drastically improved. The detox was rough, she had the foulest odor but she has done fine the last two months.
Canidae is a good food, I can't use it as it has yeast in it, and it has multiple proteins which can be a problem with some allergic dogs - but they do have a new formula with just one protein - I am waiting for it to come here to Ontario.
I myself would rate Wellness higher - but it is also more expensive.
No one has mentioned Abady. Anyone feed that? I used to buy it but it became a pain to order etc.. I tried Innova but my dogs got terrible diarrhea on it and one ended up with impacted anal glads. I switched to the Royal Canin Natural Blend but hearing good reports on Wellness I may try a bag. I can get both fairly easy. I do give raw soup bones and raw hamburger/turkey when I can to give my dogs as many fresh enzymes as possible.
I fed Abady for years.. but have been feeding raw for close to 5 years now.. i still keep a freezer with Abady Frozen in case of lazieness on my part. There is a dehydrated food called NRG that I also keep on hand for overnights when there is no grocery store at hand. I am also researching some of the Wysong products for my clients.
My dogs ate the Wysong ok when I tried it - but in my opinion it was the worst dog food I have ever fed. WAY too much grain and soy and
I couldn't get the dogs to have a firm stool even when I mixed it with 75 percent meat. The dogs could have sh3@ through a screen door and you just about needed a fire hose to clean out the kennels runs - bleah! I was foolish enough to have bought a months worth of the stuff and had to suffer through through a month of that!
Gross!! We did not have that problem here - 3 have iron guts and even the EPI female did not have a problem. Do your dogs have overly sensitive tummies? There was NO soy in the Wysong version we tried, and I am not opposed to soy, and there was some rice yes - most products contain some sort of grain - I would prefer oatmeal but am not anti-rice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Which version did you use, did you not read the ingredients first?
