I'm not sure why some people avoid the weight bearing bones but large joints should still be fine. Beef rib bones and leg bones are good rec. bones. Make sure you take the bones away before then gnaw them down too small. For your young pup, I wouldn't worry about it being a problem yet. If the bones are too big and hard some dogs just carry them around and leave them in the yard. I think a lamb leg bone would be ok for a young dog. Better check with everyone else- I'm more familiar with RAW for adults. I don't know if a lamb bone is too small(?)

Thanks Alison.
So guess what happened? I had gone to a supermarket to get chicken necks and my sister had gone to a diff store and got 1 pound of chicken heart.
She gave the whole one pound of chicken heart to my pup. I was really worried yesterday but he went in the morning and was okay.
1. Should I feed him less muscle meat for next few days?
Then today he got his mouth in Papaya seeds and ate about few spoons of it. It freaked me out. Read about papay seeds. Found out that it is used to make stomach medicine for small children. It acts as natural laxative. I fed my pup about 1/2 pound of beef patties with beef chunks in the afternoon. He has not gone since lunch.
2. Should I be worried??? I think it is normal to skip once in a while.
For last 2 days, he has been on RAW DIET and his stool is not as much as it used to be when he was on WELLNESS CAN FOOD. From what I remember you guys said that the shift to RAW usually makes stomach upset for few days.
3. Perhaps I am not feeding him enough??
Hi Rashmi,
Check your PM's.
Also, don't skip meals with (healthy) growing pups, they need their food! Keep them lean but fed!
I like this analogy: Close your hand in a fist: You are now going to compare your fist to your dog's rib cage when you pet his side.
1) Run your fingers (other hand) over the back of your hand: smooth surface = too fat
2) Run your fingers over the tops of your knuckles: very bony = too skinny
3) Run your fingers over the tops of your fingers in front of your knuckles: distinct definition of ribs = just right.
Pups grow so fast and so sporadic you will constantly be adjusting the food amount. If he's fat, cut back, if he's skinny feed more. Simple!
And now that this thread has gone way off topic, I'll add:
Raw feeding is cheaper in the long run!
