Oh I so NEVER have to worry about going to a PET.. anything, the thought of it with my Lil makes me feel just like I did before I went into labor for the first time <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Good one ! Didn't you feel worse the second time though remembering how it was the first? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
can't remember the name of the store chain, but theres one that has the habit of having their big parrots out on stands, not in cages, and encourages people to touch them..
That was PetLand and I'm proud to say I had a great deal to do with running them out of business here. I got on an outraged soapbox after seeing two Rainbow Lories with a big tub of sunflower seeds and another tub of grit. Uh, these birds don't even have GIZZARDS you idiots. They are fruit and nectar feeders. I called channel 4 after they refused to feed the birds properly.
That out of the way, we do take the pups to PetSmart occasionally. Luckily for us, we seem to have a generally more dog-educated bunch of kids. I can't count the number of times that some kids/kids have come up and asked "Can I pet your puppy?". Someone earlier mentioned having dog-awareness classes in school. I think that is an awesome idea and should be required in kindergarten through second grade or so at least.
That's a good point, Becky. I have to admit I've been surprised by the number of kids that come up to me and ask to pet Annie. I've only had adults come up without asking, give Annie the baby talk, and try to generally stress her out. Funny.
I was actually impressed the other day at a Petsmart in Eden Prarie, MN...the instructor actually hooked up a Dobie with a prong collar (and it was actually fitted high on the neck, etc.)
I go to PetsMart in Eden Prarie all the time. I always find it fun to just stick around and observe their "classes". I am honestly not impressed with them at all though.
they would not be able to hire a proper trainer, because all the flakes out there who think that giveing a correction is cruel would never shop there. the one we go to,the woman who ought to be training is in doing grooming-she used to train for KSDS,with years of work with service dogs....now she is primping poodles because they wouldn't hire her,a real trainer. stupid....
