Nice job, Amber! I saw the hand movement for the "back up", but I want to see the little pinky movement and what it does!
As you think, so shall you be. |

She exhorts humbly Carbon to be obedient unto his master, and to please her well in all things. And, lo, it is done.
And He said unto man, in all things I make Bi-colors prosper, and the streets will flow red with the blood of the non-believers.

Nice job, Amber! I saw the hand movement for the "back up", but I want to see the little pinky movement and what it does!
Actually, when I was doing the hand signal for the "speak" command that you saw in the video (sort of like a mouth opening and closing)...that was the first in a series of steps to turn it into a subtle pink wag with my left hand held at my side...and I also got him to switch from barking at me to who's in front of me.
The finished product was actually in the crap footage that I couldn't use. He's come a long way in the short time since that was filmed. I'll try to get some more soon. My current project is getting Carbon to eat the wedding vendors who won't call me back.
My favorite thing about the video was that it makes clear how much fun he has with the training. That's how it should be!
She exhorts humbly Carbon to be obedient unto his master, and to please her well in all things. And, lo, it is done.
And He said unto man, in all things I make Bi-colors prosper, and the streets will flow red with the blood of the non-believers.
So sayeth the Lepic. Can I get a witness?

What a great job you've done, Amber! You have inspired me to step up the training with my pup. I really like the "moving sit" he does while you are backing up and the head movement you use to bring him around to heel. Very cool!

Amber, you are quite the trainer! Great job with Carbon. I love all the subtle physical signals you give. You spur me to attempt a more professional attitude when I train. I hope I can.
Carbon does look very happy while going through the paces. That of course is cause of you. I loved seeing that part best of all . There's not much to compare to a dog who loves to work.
My last dog knew how to back up, but she was taught that by someone else, although she responded to me when I said "back". Can you share how you taught it? Would like to teach Lear but haven't yet tried cause don't want to mess it up (and him in the process )

Amber, you rock...I like how you did the video over some time, and showed his progress. Very cool stuff and, by the way, I was singing "BIG TIME" getting ready for lil Cato's session this morning. I felt like it was a plug for power training! Heeeheee....

Amber you're so awesome!
I second Sandy, can you teach us the backing up trick?
You and Carbon make a fantastic pair, I love his enthusiasm!!
While Taro has just as much enthusiasm in training as your Carbon and is equally brilliant, I'm nowhere near as graceful in my handling/training skills as you are
Catchy music too!
Do you have a version of him going through his paces without the music? I'd love to hear the commands as they're given as well as what his bark sounds like
He's looking adorable too, I agree with you and Steve (who seems to be getting weirder by the day in his comments, lol): bi-colour shepherds are beautiful.
I'll have a bi-colour of my own soon although I think the sables (the whole rainbow range of them) and the black & tans and the solid blacks from working lines are just as gorgeous too.
Great job, hope you come up with more vids as the little imp grows.
Judy, you too - share some Gunnar footage with us. You're too humble, I'd love to see you guys in action
(If you can catch his passive-aggressive tendencies while facing off with a rat dog, even better heehee)
