I believe the weight he wants is 15 lb or less - Corgis are great "medium sized" dogs but certainly not "small" and WAY more than 15 lbs. If a corgi-sized dog is a consideration, then there are other medium-sized dogs that are pretty nice - some Spaniels for instance - whippets I like - and on and on. I have also met Maltese that are nice, and Papillons. Personally I can't own a white fluffy dog, I live on a farm and my dogs are not kept in sterile environment - they would not stay white very long around here. My chihuahuas are black/red like doberman color and they need very minimal grooming (one long-coat, so far no grooming required - the short-coat a bath here and there)

Min -pin.. Min- pin... uhhh Min-pin need I say more? LOL
By far the pluckiest, big hearted, short haired, super clean very fast to house train, prey drive coming out their ears, not very yappy, eat two peas and a pod a day, less than a table spoon of doo doo to clean up, portable, handbag friendly, dynamite tazers take off at least a finger when owner is under threat...
Yup it is gotta be a Min-pin did I mention multi-coloured black
and tan and tan and sometimes when moving at lightening speed down passage perhaps silver streaked..Gotta love them to bits.
Sitz.. platz...Daiquiri anyone?

the min-pins I've known have been VERY high-energy, and yes "barky". High-pitched excited little-dog barking. But, temperaments are cool, I like them very much. But not if you don't want a high-energy barky little dog. They are very smart, and easy to train. Personally wouldn't have a dog that required ear and tail cropping - that's just personal preference - and my personal preference is also that the dogs that usually have ears/tailed docked, don't look right without it done.

I live in a duplex and the people upstairs had one, had to be the yappiest little thing I've every heard. It would bark at anything that moved and things that didn't move!
One night the apartment upstairs was robbed, people came right into their apartment and that little dog, that would bark at everything...didn't make a peep!! I had to laugh.
But the barking part is something that can be trained and controlled...so don't let that be an issue. They are nice little dogs.

if a corgi is a medium-sized dog, then we live in different universes. to me, a corgi is a small dog. a small dog is a dog you can pick up and tuck under your arm and carry.
a medium sized dog would be an airedale. smaller than a corgi is a tiny dog--chihuahua, yorkie, etc. i would never own one of those.
a corgi is small enough, and a lot smaller than a springer spaniel.
i still think a miniature poodle is your best bet. very low maintenance re: grooming if you just shave off the hair rather than doing the whole poofy thing. i've known some very, very nice ones.

Have you looked at Basenji's? They are bigger than a toy poodle, but have easy groomable hair, pleasant dispositions and are "barkless dogs" (although they do yodel sometimes).

Sorry, i guess I should've clarified that I was talking about a Min-Pin in my post, not a corgi.
I do agree with you though, i think a corgi is a small dog.
I consider a Beagle or Cocker spaniel to be a medium size dog.

I guess the corgis you know are mini-corgis then - because the corgis I know are NOT small at all - they are medium sized dogs with no legs. So, height-wise, yes small - but weight-wise - show me a 15 lb corgi and I'll show you a 15 lb yorkie. They don't exist - not that I've seen.
I agree I think a miniature poodle is a good choice from what you describe you are looking for.

Well yes I am going by height in my opinion of what a large or small dog is.
Corgi's to me are a small dog due to their height, thats my opinion, despite the fact that they may be 30lbs.
