I too was naive to the depths of PETA's tactics. I never agreed with their stance on hunting/fishing but was not aware of their association with ELF and ALF and their campaign to eliminate the world of companion animals until the last year or so.
I belong to a fishing and hunting forum in the Chicago area and several members have suffered monetary damage and could have been killed as a result of their tactics to stop people from fishing in Lake MI. This opened my eyes to the group we like to refer to as "People Eating Tasty Animals" and made me realize that they are a dangerous organization.
I applaud THK for realizing their mistake and taking actions to correct it. I am also a customer of theirs and am glad to see them correct this.

Diane,
I'm sorry to have to say this, but you sound like the worst kind of fanatic yourself in this post. Good gracious, how strident and rude. When someone sounds off the way you do, it is very off-putting to other people. You would never convince someone of your viewpoint talking like this. Just a hint, good manners and a reasonable argument or point of view will be more likely to sway people to your way of thinking than spouting nonsense.

I knew nothing about PETA before joining this board a year ago. Now I know - a little.
But regardless of what PETA does or doesn't do, there was an "air" about the emails from THK from the start. They seemed genuine, concerned, sincere. I don't know the lady from Adam but I just got a good feeling about her from her emails.
I would guess that if she still believed PETA was the right association for her, she'd have responded differently.
I think she honestly didn't realize the ugly side of PETA.
People make mistakes. What's that saying: Hurt me once, shame on you. Hurt me twice, shame on me. I don't even use THK but would have no problem using her product now after hearing her comments and Ed's further endorsement to trust her. If she continues to be associated with PETA, I'm sure at some point it will be discovered and Ed and others will change their association with her. Until then, she seems to more than deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Look, anyone has a right to demand to see any non-profits' donation/contributor's list...if anyone here doubts THK they can ask PETA for a financial statement and a current donors list.
That should clear it up for anyone.

OK, everyone. I fully apologize to Ed and others for not being more understanding. As Ed knows (I e-mailed him privately and asked for permission to post an apology here), he and I agree fully with respect to terrorism and I have a very personal dislike for PETA (and other terrorist organizations) based on my experiences with them. I should have been far more tactful and respectful in my post here and I do apologize. I have posted on this board in the past but lost my password and rejoined recently. Ed has always been very outspoken in support of our troops and our freedoms, against terrorism and I should not have posted in haste as I did.
I'm glad the issue appears to be resolved and many people are now more aware of the "dark" side of PETA, including the folks at THK.
Respectfully,
Diane
Ed's Comments
Thank you for doing this - apology accepted - lets move on.

Hmm. Not sure if I should post this, but you all make it sound as if the people from THK had an epiphany about PETA and how evil they are. I don't know much about any of the two, but it's pretty obvious that Lucy and Co. had only one choice. She said herself that they received a lot of emails today (or yesterday) regarding their involvement with PETA. They realized that unless they withdrew their support (or whatever), they would loose A LOT of income. AS SIMPLE AS THAT.
Ed's comments edited in:
or in their interest to donate some of their profits they went to fast and believed they were donating to a reputable organization - which PETA IS NOT !!
Anyone who can say they have not made mistakes had better step to the front of the line here - because I have never met anyone like that

I made the "epiphany" assumption because that's exactly what happened to me - I had an epiphany reading this thread (regarding PETA).
Having said that, and due to my growing cynicism, I'll admit you're probably right on the money.
