I can't tell you how happy this makes me! Now that is the kind of media attention these cases should get...something that will make irresponsible owners go hmmmmm. I'm just sorry that it took injured children to make this happen.
However, there is no law against me taking her dogs to a shelter in Boston, either. Creative solutions to problems are the only things that work in these situations.
Amber, you're pretty awesome - you know that right?!

Well, thanks. You wouldn't believe how many people thought what I did was over-reacting! Just as an aside...don't you think it's weird that I was the one who had to do something? Wouldn't you think the 7 year old's parents would have been more upset? But that's another issue...

HA!! To those people I say: NO - it sounds like there was a very natural escallation of reactions that started out quite reasonable and only ended up in the extreme after the other party refused to use some common sense and have respect for their neighbors and control over their dogs. The owner of those dog's was exercising some serious and irresponsible stupidity that just happened to appear more passive than your calculated and appropriate reaction.

YES! I know MY parents would have been knocking on doors trying to get people's attention if it were me in that situation. You're right, it's another issue, but sadly it's still addressing negligence, in one form or another...
Can you believe it? And not only did they publish it, they published it under My View which is under the columnist section instead of just the Letters to the Editor....and this means that it will be read more often as a result.
Good. If at least one person gets the message, I'll be happy.
Good article. I think you conveyed your point very well. I wish that could be published in more papers. The way it was worded and put together gave off a calm determination to be heard. I think any open minded, educated person would be persuaded to think about your words. Good job.
That's so great, Amber. Good news. The fact that they published it is a move in the right direction. We need to keep that kind of thing going, in the forefront, especially in the face of any dog attack on a person. We need to beat that drum as often as possible. The more people read about irresponsible owners, the more they will begin themselves to target the owners instead of the dogs when an attack happens.
Getting people to target owners will save our breeds and put the blame where it belongs. It may be slow getting there, but it has to happen.

Awesome! Maybe now people will really think about BSL and what could happen once all the "dangerous breeds" are banned and the non-dangerous ones will start to be trained, as you said, to be dangerous-any and all dog breeds can be trained to be vicious and dangerous, most people don't think it's possible. Way to get it out Amber!
