After reading about these dogs on this thread, I was fascinated and looked them up under google. The pictures they showed of them were HUGE! Beautiful really, I was amazed!
The ones I see at breeders websites are much smaller and more agile looking.
Here are some pictures, they also said they grow to 200 pounds, loving big dogs as I do, I'd consider one, one day, not for sport but just a pet.
Janet just for the record the pictures of the Boerboels at the top of your search engine page were photo-shopped. The Boerboel is *supposed* to be able if called upon to do the duties of an all round farm dog that will protect. Most of them won't or can't because of how and why the preponderance of there breeders have selected breed stock, as most select first for show via the market place. A 200 pound Boerboel is useless except for buying and selling. That said there are some that are fine dogs and will. Norman Epstein
Here's a short video I put together awhile ago to show a bit of the agility/ability a BB can possess. Kala easily jumps up into a "penthouse" crate that is 42" off the ground. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF0lgXasPxY
Thanks Alex! I figure ALL working dog folks should try to stick together, whether are dogs are furry or slick!
Do you have any videos of your Boxer anywhere that I could check out? I had a wonderful correct bitch as a little kid; she sure made a soft spot for the breed on me.
I'll have to tell the BBs we're famous! (jk)
I agree with the working dog folks sticking together, I am a sucker for working dogs, no matter the breed.
I don't have any videos of my dog in SchH (yet), all I have of her are her being a clown and working the spring pole. Video. I just begain taking videos, so hopefully I'll have more soon.
