Mike, this is bittersweet news. I'm happy that Brenna is going someplace that will be good for her, but I'm so sorry for you in having to give her up at all.
Is this permanent (is the breeder keeping or or going to rehome her?), or will you be hoping to get her back sometime in the future?

She wants to keep her and continue her lines if she's OFA'd ok in the fall which I have no doubt she will be...she has siblings that are working now, one brother here in Houston for Metro Police, and they're doing very good and all exhibit the same traits in the head and heart. Her mom and dad threw very consistent litters.
At least I know where she'll be and can keep in touch.
Carbon looks great, btw. Hate to see him coming at me in the middle of the night

I know this has to be really hard on you. Dont think of it as giveing up your dog you are making a sacrifice for the breed. Because of what you are doing you know there will be little brennas all over Texas. I really like this conclusion because now someday in the future when you get back on your feet you can have part of your old friend back. If not Brenna because from my understand most breeders retire a dog at some age. By then you should hopfully be able to keep her again. I trully hope this thought gives you comfort.
Also you dont have to quit talking on this board I am sure everyone would love to know how Brenna does some might even want a little black GSD puppy.

Mike,
So close, but yet so far. This is top of the list for good outcomes. I was really looking forward to seeing her but I believe this is best for all.

Mike, if you don't want to give her back to the breeder, I'd keep her until you found a way to take her back.

Mike,
It is really good news that she will be safe and valued. When your life is more settled, you have a chance at least to live with her again, or with one of her pups. For now, I am sure she will make a smooth transition into her new environment. I am sorry for your loss, but this is so much better then many of the other alternatives you were facing.

Her kennel owner is excited to get her back...she's not a puppy factory in any way. She's been very ill due to complications from her working at ground zero/9/11. Her FEMA dog "Cholo" died and her team leader from FEMA/Texas team died, too, from stuff inhaled/absorbed at ground zero. She had to part with several of her dogs because of her health, but she's told me that she's doing better now and wants Brenna with her.
Without going into more embarassing details about my disaster of a life, this is about as good an outcome as I could imagine for Brenna.
I'm feeling sorry for myself now but it won't be like this forever.
I'm reminded of a scene in one of my favorite movies "As Good as it Gets". Jack Nicholson plays the Monty Python song "always look on the bright side of life" on his piano and cries/laughs at his becoming so attached to this little dog that he had once hated that he now has to return to the neighbor that has recovered enough to take back. The bitter, racist, homophobic, neurotic hermit who hates everyone falls in love with this little mutt of a dog. His exact words were "A dog. Over a dog."
So...I'm accepting this part of my life and trying to get on with living the rest of it.
I was moved reading all of your posts and offers to help.
Sincerely, thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Brenna
