Great hydration ideas.
Baiting the water - dogs just love to be lured!! And then adding a little sloppiness to the bowl - perfect.
He was licking the floor after he ate so this all sounds like it will work flawlessly.
I do what Natalya mentioned too. I had a dog with kidney issues that started me pouring water over the food, and then - "ding" - realized that this could not hurt and was probably good for any dog.
I have one who gets a quick emergency squat if he starts the day with 'fridge-cold food, so that meal has warm liquid (the Ice Pups Michael mentioned, made into broth, if adding water to powder means "made") poured over the RMBs. (Warm water would work, too, for him, of course.)

Funny that should have been mentioned as Kaiser this morning was so amazed at the volume of his own pee that he had to turn his head and watch. When he got tired of just standing there waiting for it to end he decided to take a few steps - peeing all the while! Priceless!

Ok folks an update:
Just got back from picking up some chicken backs and took him out.
HUGE pee. Then he pooped - first small piece was fine followed by mucus and 2 drops of blood.
Is this something to be concerned about or is it part of the process?

The first piece - Was it hard? Or soft, but formed?
Mucus - How much and what color was it?
Blood drops - Red? Just want to make sure it wasn't the anal glands expressing under the straining.
Straining?
How does he act now?
And you removed the fat from the chicken breast, right?
I'm thinking that this is probably just the new-ness of the whole thing. One 1/2 bad bowel movement doesn't tell a whole lot, though, so I can't be sure. Right now, I say wait for the next bowel movement.

Is he acting normally? Drinking water?
If so, I would feed as normal and watch for next poop...
If he has lost his appetite, is lethargic, or is not drinking, post back...
(what Michael said! We were posting at the same time...)

Was formed and firm.
Mucus - How much and what color was it?
It was a small pile - maybe 1/16 of a cup - dark yellowish.
Blood drops - Red? Just want to make sure it wasn't the anal glands expressing under the straining.
Dark red.
A little after when he tried to get more out and only a little more mucous found it's way clear.
He was fine when I put him back in his crate and went back to work.
And you removed the fat from the chicken breast, right?
Yes.

Since you have the chicken backs, go ahead and feed those for the next meal.
Not that they are better or anything, but I suspect the breast were still too much meat for this pup. Just for the initial switch. Later, I don't think it will matter a bit.
Remove the skin and excess fat like you did for the breast, and scrape out the leftover organ bits on the inside of the back. There will also be a little extra fat on the inside, too.
I'm with Lynne, feed as normal. You'll know more with the next bowel movement.

I was thinking hard poop, maybe not enough meat!
LOL!
