I tore out a few pages. Very neatly.
LMAO
I guess when I get to be Connie's age, I will be as sneaky and cunning as she.
I read a little over half last night after work (my sweet, wonderful husband was kind enough to cook dinner for me!) and I finished up the rest this afternoon after we came back from my son's parade.
There have been a few books that I've read straight through. All of the Harry Potter books, for example.
I had to force myself to wait to read the last one until I finally had a day off, and then I read the whole thing in one long night and day.

I have a feeling that the book might need a PM thread with whoever wants to join it. It's so easy to ruin it for anyone (not just the board's 14,000 members, but the whole Internet public happening upon it).
But maybe not.
Anyone else feel that a big enough spoiler alert in the thread title is enough?
If we do go on with a discussion, I'm interested in what about his style you didn't like besides the ending.
This was a book that remains with me and will for for a long time..... good and bad.
Well I just figured it's their fault if they ignore the warning... :smirk:
I didn't like how he would tell you the problem/conlict but then not provide a definitive resolution. Such as why Claude hated Gar so much, the significance of Ida Paine, Forte and what the ghost in Henry's shed was all about. These are kind of bad examples, but I don't have the book with me; therefore, I can't look up better ones.
(I actually didn't mind the ending so much after I did a little research and realized it was a Hamlet parellel.)
He just left it open to a lot of different interpretations, which I don't like as much. (I was reading the amazon.com discussions, and someone thought Edgar was one of the dogs! That was a bit far off, but you get my point...) A lot of people do like this style, and I have to admit, it was an interesting read. And it does make for some great discussion...
Hint, hint.
