Connie,
I have tried Chlorpheniramine, did not work.
I have not tried hydroxyzine.
He is on temeril p right now. Still itching but not as much.
He is on revelution flea med.
His ears are good.
One paw is a little pink but the vet said she saw no sign of yeast or fungus. That it looked fine to her.
No odor outside of doggy odor from running hard everyday at the park.
Taking whole dose of salmon oil and tablespoon of yohurt everyday.
He itches on paws, top of one leg more on the chest than the leg,
base of tail and rear hips (towards the back).
I have him on wellness rice and salmon and I'm going to switch him to wellness core oceanfish with no grains.
After I switch his Kibble, I'm going to try using half raw, frozen dogfood in the Turkey. He does have a delicate stomach and some meats and fowls are too rich for him so finding what agrees with him is a trial and error too.
So I think that is his whole history. Boy I sure appreciate your time on this. There is so much info out there these days, its hard to know where to begin. Everything is so pricy too so that is a consideration.
Thanks again
Geri
I had him on Diphenhydramine for a month. 50 mg 2 and 3 times a day. Worked a little but not enough. Started to get bad again so I put him back on the temeril p.
He was on 6 grams of salmon oil pills. Then I changed to your salmon oil and was giving him 3 pumps x 2 day. He got diarreaha so I've cut back and will start out slower with that.
He seems to itch almost everywhere sometime during the day. Not so much on the back. Base of tail, underneath tail, his privates, his paws, his hips, and he loves his face stroked.
The more I think about it, I thinking it could be sand fleas. We live in Florida and he goes to the dog park everyday. He's only 13 mos and need his exercise. We do not have a large yard.
I also started to use the Neem that Leerburg sells.
Should I maybe switch to another Flea product?
Should I maybe add fresh garlic to his diet?, every day? How much?
I will get a flea comb and check that out too.
Thanks again.

Garlic is potentially toxic depending on what information you read. Some people swear by it, some people avoid it completely. I think each owner has to do the research and make the choice that is best for them and their dog
Sorry i haven't gotten back to you. I haven't gotten the flea comb but I did a check and I do not see any fleas or flea dirt.
He does rub his face on the sofa as soon as he gets out of his crate.
One reason I haven't written is I decided to stop taking him to the dog park and I wanted to see if he would itch less. I am also cutting down on the Temeril P. Well, it really has helped. His itching is much less the last couple of weeks. I think this is kinda confirming my thoughts about the dog park and sand fleas.
I'm wondering if other people in Florida have had this problem.
My problem now is getting him enough exercise. He is 14 mos now and we walked him 4 times a day. Do you think that is enough or does he really need to be running. His behavior is good although he is really not as tired as I would like him to be sometimes and he gets a little restless.
Thanks for your help.
