Swag (short for Scientific Wild-Ass Guess): She's a bit on the tubby end, so usually we call her things like Fatty, Tubby, Booty-licious, Tubs-magee, Super-Booty, or anything else that comes to mind.
Dom (short for Dominic): Dumb-dumb dog, Dominic von Dumb-dumbville
I guess we need to work on being more positive in our house? lol
My cats: Jade, Rogue, and Gonchar
And my 8 foot long boas: Penelope and Edgar (I like giving innocent names to otherwise intimidating critters)
Toni- "Terrible Toni the Terrorist"-- she responds best to "Terribles"
Cat- "Cat-a-rat-a-rina" -- she responds best to "Rats" (I can't yell "CAT" in my house cuz it freaks out the kitty.)
Drift- So named because as a pup, Paul said she "drifted a little to the right" -- she responds best to "Riffy"
Shyner -"Shiney Butt the Crazy Mutt" -- she responds best to the sound of a Doritos bag (When I worked for a group home, the girls went out for a walk one day and came back with a dog. We looked all over and nobody claimed her, so I decided to keep her, and told the girls we needed to name her. She's a black lab X so the girls wanted to call her "Blacky" but I said maybe we can spell it with an I. One of the girls said "you want to call the dog Black Eye?" In unison, 5 girls shouted "SHINER" I just changed the spelling )
They all have the same middle name -- "DAMMIT" (That goes for Paul too!)
I have a client at my boarding kennel whose Giant Schnauzer is named Olivia....they got her as an 8 month old roudy baby. Her name quickly became OH Livia! Happily she has settled into a lovely dog...and she isn't eating anymore furniture.
If there is an unexplained thud or crash at our house my Congo African Grey immediatley says "CAT?" followed soon with "What was that?" in a suspicious tone and exact mimic of me. She tells the dogs what to do too but they generally ignore her. My family has been fooled by her on more than one occasion though.
This IS a fun thread...you folks have way more imagination with names than most of my clients.
