This is one of my favorites. A friend and I were walking my lab and her Standard Poodle at a park. A girl looks over at the poodle and says to her friend, "I love labradoodles but that one looks like it is mixed with something."
Uh, yeah. That would be the mix of Poodle and POODLE!
WTH? A watered-down Labradoodle?

"Yo, Rinny Away" for my shepherd. Some men like to bark at her. Guess they have to prove their manhood or something.
"Looks like he's doing all the work" or "that's cheating" when we're skijoring.
And with my last dog, an unusual looking huge white dog with black mask,on nearly every walk-
Them: What kind of dog is that?
Me: Alaskan Moosehound (or whatever I felt like he was that day)
Them: Oh. OK.
We had a Cape Cod Terrier before that.

I only had two people do stupid stuff at Erika, one guy barked at her and well, she barked back twice as loud and twice the teeth. Another jumped at her and she jumped at him. stupid people.

i have had kids bark at my dogs.
last night, we were walking the 2 renasance bulldogges(basically, an old english bulldog). one is VERY bully, like a fit, muscular EB, the other looks boxerish...."oh, what a nice pit bull family!"
someone, quite seriously asked me if my chinese crested was a kind of BIRD!. not cat, not rat, a bird.
when i have dyed my crested's hair before-"oh, is his hair naturally green??"
me:"yep"
once, i was walking 5 dogs at once..."oh, you look like the dog whisperer!"
i used to rotate taking one of the dogs to work...
one of the guys who works there is a security guard, who thinks hes a cop.
when he found out we train in PSA, he proceeded to give our AB commands in german. when she just gave him a blank look, he turned to me and said"you must be a crappy trainer, she doesn't even know these commands!"
She is trained in russian

I made the big mistake of taking LJ with me to baseball practice last week. He was wonderful, sitting at my feet quietly observing all that was going on. Until a 7 yo girl shows up with a big stick - TOY! - and starts shaking it in his face, squealing at him to play!!! LJ hits the end of the leash, rearing on hind legs, whining and barking, while this girl teases him relentlessly. I yelled at her to drop the stick and get away from us and tried to calm him, but she would not stop! Her mother was sitting a few feet from us, completely ignorant of what was going on. I demanded she put the stick down and finally had to get up and take it from her hands. She then went straight to LJ's face, grabbing at him to play. I turned and walked away, she continued to follow. I finally had LJ sit, and turned to her and said very plainly GET AWAY FROM US NOW OR YOU'RE IN BIG TROUBLE. She went on off to play somewhere else. Her mom never looked at us, so I went over to her and told her what had happened, that her daughter should be more careful. Her mom just said, we have a dog at home, and she plays rough with him all the time, so she just wanted to play with yours. I told her mind doesn't play, and walked away. Geez!
The sheer apathy and stupidity of that parent would've inspired me to be much more blunt with her.

Yeah right!

When I pulled up to the ticket kiosk at a park with all of the dogs in my sig pic piled in my Land Cruiser (I was sitting for the white GSD), the chick at the window asked when my back-up would be arriving. I told her, point blank, that I don't need back up. The dumbstruck look on her face was priceless (the following line warning me that animal control had already been to the park once that day to issue tickets for off leash dogs was more on the offensive side ... guess she really didn't believe I could handle 5 dogs on leashes)
The line I'm exhausted by is regarding Kobi, my 110 pound GSD: "Wow, he's so big!" Well, yes, I've noticed ... Then they tell me how much BIGGER their dog is. And then repeat that their dogs weighs 144,000 more pounds than mine. Is that supposed to impress me?
Is the size of your dog suddenly equally linked to your social status or something? With that in mind, perhaps I should start replying with a "Thank you"?

- Look, a dog walker.
- Oh, prong collars! I would never let my dog walker do that!
- Have to keep an eye on them.
With me standing right there! Happened several times. Makes me so angry I am very careful not to speak.

This one is just funny.
At the Canadian border.
Mountie: Are you an American citizen?
Me: Yes
Mountie: What about that one, looks German to me. (pointing at my shepherd).
Goes to show they can have a sense of humor.

When I used to board and foster Greyhounds, I used to take them for walks regularly (with the help of my daughter and a couple of friends) often taking 15 to 20 hounds walking at a time.
Once I was seriously asked if we were a 'parade'; another time I was asked how much I was selling them for.
