I hope everything goes well. I wonder if you should get extra food in Eddie before you go in. As close as he is to you, he may be too worried to eat while you're gone and then recovering. Just a thought.
Thanks Betty!
Meridith, its an out patient thing, so I won't be gone over night...But you have a point.
The only problem is that we are daily trying to get extra food in him. So we are at max now.
Great Idea though!!
I guess it will motivate me to get up and going soon after the surgery!
They say they want me up and going right after.
Eddie hasn't eaten today...because I haven't taken him out to "work" yet...sigh.
Silly dog.
The surgery is Monday, and I'm going to take him to the surgery center and have my husband handle him while I'm in surgery and after.
At least that way Eddie will be out "working"
Then the day after they said that they want me up walking...so he will have plenty to do then too.
It's nice to know that people care!!!!!
Willie
All the best to you on Monday. I'll be sending lots good thoughts your way. "Break a leg" probably isn't appropriate in this situation (hehe) but the good wishes are the same.
Willie,
I hope your surgery went well and you will start to heal and feel better really soon. I somehow missed this, and wanted you to know I was thinking about you.
Let us know how you are when you are up to it!
Awwwwwww, Thank you all so very much!!!!!
I had the left knee done yesterday.......I have had 4 other knee scopes...lets just say that I was wishing for the pain from my kidney stones.
It hurt worse than anything I have ever had done.
They replaced my ACL. This is done by drilling through the bones in the tibia and femur, and screwing the replacement ligament in place.
They had to ream out/clean up another grove/area as the space where the ACL was supposed to be was filled up with a bunch of gunk, and the wasted original ACL.
Then they did an IT band release.like one of you had...I'm so fuzzy I can't remember.
The Patella was riding way off to one side, as soon as he did the IT release, they patella dropped right back in where it was supposed to be.
They took a bunch of blood and spun it down to the platlets, and then injected that in and over all parts involved in the joint...This really helps/speeds up the healing.
Last night I was chattering in pain and shaking if I moved...This morning I can move the leg with what I would call normal pain....minimal jaw chattering/shaking.
He said a minimum of 3 to 4 months before he can do the other knee...we will have to see.
I start physical Therapy tomorrow.
OUCH! That sounds so unbelievably painful Willie!
I have had kidney stones,so that gives me an idea what kind of pain you are in!
I am so sorry it is so painful, but I sure hope they gave you some good meds to help you through the worst of it.
I hope you have lots of help from your family and Eddie to help you get through it!
Wishing you a fast recovery! Take good care Willie!
