"For those that said Standard Poodle, I saw some amazing red ones in Canada, retriever clip, longer tail, raised/bred for sport, not the foo-foo dog you so frequently see here."
That's the kind that I want.
I had a small one that would retreive anything, she loved the water like a fish was fearless with crazy drive & way smarter then 10 dogs put together. I want another one like she was, only bigger. She was a hoot to own.

I've got a Pomeranian who is exactly like that. I must say worst puppy I'd ever owned but one o the best dogs I've ever owned. She sadly will be the last little dog I will own for the time being but I've got quite a few years left with her. It sure is a sight though watching a 7 lb dog trying to herd, swim, and all around run with a pack of Rottweilers and fit in.
I keep thinking I want a small dog at some point, having a little spitfire would be fun!
But 50 pounds is the smallest I have ever had, 7 pounds just seems soooo tiny!
Somtimes there's a BIG dog in that little package. They don't know that they are small!
That is so true, I now some tiny little fireballs.
They are so cute though I know I would have to work extra hard not to baby it or spoil it rotten and end up with a monster.
Yea. Well I ended up with the best of both worlds. My Pomeranian is a crazy spitfire, but because she was raised as a real dog, no smaller than my rottwilers, she is extremely social. Also I lucked out too because she knows her size well and her personality makes her a little dog who doesn't think she can take on the world. It doesn't mean she won't lift her leg as high as possible in order to pee.
And as for 50 pounds or under being small, dang. The two Rottweilers I've got now would barely make that cut.
