Aww… Jennifer, I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like she was a great kitty. They have such huge personalities packed into those fluffy little bodies. It sounds like her send off to the bridge was stellar. I found myself drawing a little “A” kitty after reading this post, remembering our fallen fuzz balls. What a creative little guys you have there, I hope he has lots of great memories.
Thank you guys, for a bunch of mean hard asses you sure are supportive!
Big kitty threw an absolute fit last night and this morning. I shut him out of the room before opending the back door and when we came back in he was yowling at me this morning he yowled then proceeded to knock things off the table while making an awful groaning noise.
They are just going to have to get over it, sunning themselves on the back porch is just not worth the risk.
Have you tried catnip? It helped a little when we moved. There are always seeds in the jar together with the dry leaves so you could make your own fresh catnip. My cats like the potted plants by the window.
My mom lets her cats in/out as they please. Had a scare and decided the cats had to stay in, then someone decided they weren't going to use the cat box as instructed to do so. Just be careful of that, add more cat boxes....
I have seen some kitties with harenesses on and teethered so they can be outside but not roaming.
Can you screen in a portion of the porch for feline fun and sun? A buddy of mine did that, her cats seemed much happier/healthier when able to safely sun themselves. I know it gets expensive, but maybe with recycled fencing or something? Even an old chain link dog kennel modified for security would be an option.
I hope you and you family are doing ok right now. My thoughts are still with you all.
They don't seem to be interested in catnip, but I have also never tried fresh.
We don't really have a way to screen in the porch but I am thinking of getting a couple of perches to put in our sunny bedroom window. I could open the windows for them when it is nice outside.
They are stir crazy though, I didn't realize what a difference not lounging on the porch would make.
Last night they had a disagreement (not a fight just bopping and awful noises) and knocked a quart of paint off causing the lid to fly off and the entire thing to spill on the kitchen floor.
