" ... when she was interested in a car was able to get her to focus on me and sit and down! It was so awesome to see her watch me and what I was asking for. "
I use an anti-pulling harness, and she seems to have a sensitive throat so I don't like to put pressure on it. I usually have the snap on the leash attached to both the collar and harness so some of the pressure is dissipated, we're working on heel but its not reliable yet.
Now I think I get it, don't know why I wasn't understanding before-don't get her to the point where she has to react.
We are going to put a ton of work into the marker training and desensitizing, avoiding conflicts.
I'm really glad I found you guys, I'm sure I'm now on the right track with her.

Your process is helping me, too, so please keep posting. I was watching Ed's video about pack structure and realized I hadn't been giving enough of a correction for unwanted behaviour. I don't think Jethro even knew what No meant.
Also - I recommend the Starmark collar - it puts even pressure around the throat but is a little gentler than a prong collar.
Another thing I am doing with Jethro that seems to be helping is tethering him to me in the house while I am doing housework. He is getting much better at following my body and I am finding it is useful when we are outside and I need him to make a quick turn to avoid a situation.
Hi all, Amber continues to do well with her training, she does have little episodes where she will "forget" but usually will respond to redirection. One thing with her is that when she performs her down command once she has her treat she will pop back up-this is new. she will do this if I hold the treat for a little bit or give it to her right away, I'm not sure what to do about it.

I looked at the Herm Sprengers and the Starmark, I noticed there are 3 versions to the Herm sprenger-two seem to be buckle type. Would these essentially work the same as a prong? I think I need to put her in a prongtype collar until she is MUCH better at heeling and not pulling. I'm trying to avoid anything that has a major choking action. Thanks for the input.
