I have had the same vet for over thirty years. They have been with me through thick and thin, saw me through some hard times too, financially. Midnight calls, holidays, freezing cold. They come to my house for my St., Moe because he has such a hard time getting in and out of my truck (hips).
Do I always agree with them? No, but we work it out. Sometimes I get aggravated with the younger staff, but I guess that's just my old age showing. In the end, I trust them implicitly to do what is best for my pet. They listen to me and make me feel like a part of the decision for my pets care.
I can remember with my first horse (many years ago} there was a serious outbreak of EEE in my area. My vet worked day and night to innoculate as many horses as possible and literally passed out from exhaustion!
To lump in that most vets are "stupid" is tantamonunt to saying that most people have the education and life experience as their vets, they don't!
Vets like this are invaluable, albeit rare. Mine have also helped me through thick and thin, and financially just as you say.
I think it's great for Lynne to have the (I won't insert what I'm thinking here) to stand up for the profession and take the backlash for her comments.
That's why I love her, too!
Kudos to both of you.

Edit reason: added info
"older generation thinks the younger generation is lazy, immoral, stupid...etc"
You've really got a point there! The acceptance of women into the professions has brought some reality to the table, an idea that a life AND a career are possible.
Now, off topic, got to say:
Children need to be first in your heart. Years of turning from them to answer the phone or run out to an emergency is not a nurturing environment. By the time we noticed real trouble, and I quit, it was too late to fix. Our boys paid a price for my devotion to my career.
