It's clear that you care very much about her and have done everything you can to give her a healthy life. Things happen, but I don't believe you have done anything for which you should be beating yourself up. You did nothing wrong.
I'm sending a little prayer your way for her recovery. Be strong, positive and confident for her. Dogs really do pick up on our emotions--and she needs your support right now.
I agree completely. You, your wife, your family -- all will do yourselves and the dogs (all of them) so much more good by concentrating on the healing of the sick dog. Dogs get sick. What they (and their fellow pack members) need most from us is calm care and the absolute assurance of no rupture in their pack structure, no panic in their pack leaders.
You are in our hearts. You, like all of us, have done your best. This is what we have, and it's ALL we have: our best.

Thanks for good wishes. Don't get me wrong, I do not advocate "careless breeding", just that we should not keep dogs indoors and probably (this is a hard one) should not have them if we don't have large outdoor space for them. In our case, our dogs have good background, we could make money if we bred them, but I just hated the whole scene with the dog shows (Droopy won first place once, lost once because of me, than we stopped going) and I didn't like some of the breeders, who are greedy and breed dogs to death. All I am saying is - think before you have a dog, think deep.

If there ever was a dog that SHOULD live indoors, it's a pug. That's what they were bred for. To sit in a parlor. You've done everything right. Stop questioning everything you've done right up to now based on this one random health issue. Keeping a pack of pugs outdoors to breed every now and again in some romanticized notion of what's "natural" would cause a lot more problems than you have now. Nature's not that kind.

"think before you have a dog, think deep. " I agree.
And Tracy, great points!
Let's keep this thread where it belongs, Dragan, which is on the health of your beautiful dog.
We have all faced these crises. Yet -- here is a board filled with very dog-centric, health-focused, careful-feeding owners.
Children get sick. Adults get sick. Dogs get sick. Regardless of the family, who are anguished and anxious to blame someone and not accept that life is often cruel and random, it happens all the time, no matter what we do.

Thanks a lot, I will post as soon as I hear from the vet. He will keep Drina until she is well enough to go home (until she can eat and digest food he said). This should be maybe 2-3 days, I hope. I think that she still has strength to handle the surgery and recovery but this is a hard time, waiting and hoping. I am eating nervously, had a few meetings, trying to work, but my mind is jumping everywhere.

Yes, I know. We pretty much all know, sadly. It's tough.
But a basically healthy dog on a natural meat/bones diet has a stronger immune system than many, IMO; focus on and send those healing and positive thoughts her way.

Oh God! Trying to work when something else is consuming every waking thought is the worst.
Hang in there. You got her to the vet, and recovery gets to start today.

Doctor called. Drina opened her eyes after the surgery but is still not awake completely. He said that there indeed was an infection as he predicted. We will be able to see her tomorrow.
Just so that all of you know, if I did not have a strong opposition in my family, I would have tried to give her colloidal silver and maybe some antibiotics and help her beat this. I know that most of you don't agree, but I don't think that this surgery is a natural solution - it will dramatically change her personality and self confidence, change her life. If it was necessary at this stage, it is strictly my fault.

This surgery, at this stage in her life, will have no affect on her personality whatsoever.
With the infection already having set in for a couple days, a more "natural" treatment would have left you with a dead dog on your conscience. I'd put money on this one. That girl was SICK from your description of things.
