They do. I found them at Home Depot today. You might also try a horse type store instead of livestock - someplace the specializes in horse tack and equestrian clothing. They are occasional put on lead ropes and those are slightly smaller than ones used on livestock (i.e., cattle).
I've also found them online and have seen them on some leashes (but don't remember where I found those now).
Take a look at this website, but if you do a search for "bull snaps" you should get a fairly good return.
As a backup, it would be better if its long enough that it doesnt correct at all. Its only in case the prong comes apart. If you keep it up high on the neck, it can get under the prong and wrapped into the prongs. Its better down low on the neck and not really doing anything.
This is the way that I use it also.
I have had prongs just fall off & also fail during agitation sessions.
It is nice to have the securty of a dd collar as back up whenever any brand(have had expensive & cheap ones fail thru the years) prong collar is on you dog.
This is the snap I've been thinking of the last couple of days but didn't know the name of it. It's a bull snap.
You have to pull the clip part out instead of pushing it in to attach it.
Anyone have any experience with these on a leash, etc? I've only used them on horses (sorry, no bulls here )?
For me, any clasp that doesn't firmly connect or is captured on both sides of the loop I won't use. Personal preference and experience has found that damn near anything wierd can happen to a non-fully secured clasp at the most inopportune times.
