I sent a message to your moderator. He can post it if he wants. I would never address this forum again.
You are a-holes. I regret i ever addressed this place, I tried to be friendly and I can't believe you are adults.
No, I was afraid of you f*cking reaction and that's why we decided NOT to tell about the e-collar taht was never used to abuse my dog, and never used to correct this behaviour. My dog's problems have no connection to it. You are sure that you have helped 'the nutball, etc."? Thank you for your kind help, then.
My name is Maria Martynchik, I am 33, from Belarus, I have a deforming illness caused by radiation -severe hypothyroidism resistant to thyroid medication-(from Chernobyl in 1986). We have no cure or money for research and got me a dog to help deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I have severe swelling and difficulty walking and concentrating plus adrenal issues but I tried my best with Yume.
If you wanted to know if I am a troll. Google me. Maybe you'll find my old pictures and my design work. You love to google. F* you. I can;t believe the DOG forum bullied me to tears.
Maria needs a medical doctor for herself, not a dog.
" I can't believe you are adults"
If you were an adult yourself, you would have addressed why you lied to us all.
Maria, all I can say to you now, if you have one ounce of concern or care at all about Yume, get her to an Akita rescue.

I've tried to compose a post expressing my frustration and sadness over one falling through the cracks when the help was right here, but I can't come up with right words.
I don't need to. I know you guys are feeling the exact same way.
I'm just signing on this morning and catching up on overnight developments. I have to say, like a lot of you, this story has weighed heavily on my mind.
I was not one who offered any training advice, as I'm simply not qualified, but I did post to encourage the owner to try to place the dog into rescue. So many of you did post with excellent advice and offers of assistance. As a fellow forum member, I want to thank you for trying. I feel so bad for this poor dog. And the dogs are the reason we are all here!
Some of the forum members here do indeed have excellent people skills. I'm in the category of completely socially inept, along with a few of you who have also admitted to it! I have always been more comfortable around dogs and horses than people. And I guess I've reached a point in my life where I'm perfectly comfortable to admit that!

Baby chicks, Barbara? Did you cave in and order some?
I walked into the feed store to purchase 200# of chicken feed, after JUST having told my husband we were going to have to cull some hens because we are spending too much on feed... and came out with 6 more brand new baby Ameraucana pullets (probably more Easter Eggers than bonafide Ameraucanas, but as long as they lay blue or green eggs, I won't care).
200# of layer feed, 10# of chick starter and six more babies.
It is called "Chicken Math". Now I'm even thinking of adding another small coop, but that is between us as I've not dropped that bombshell on poor Doug yet...

Seems I missed some excitement....
I just picked up the book Dog Man about the guy who brought back the Akita breed. Very interesting so far.

I really enjoyed that book. Reading it now, with everything going on in Japan, will ne even more meaningful.

I'm going to have to pick up that book, I really don't know anything at all about the breed except for what CJ posted and what little I gleamed at the Akita forum.
They sound pretty cool actually.

I have to say I am glad to see this particular thread was started. I thought I was being overly sensitive, in that I've been thinking about this dog lots. Nice to know there are such good people out there.

Obviously, I am new to this forum, have read various topics posted and have seen some replies that are "in-your-face." (Or keeping to some of this particular post's threads: lacking in people skills.)
1) I may be new to LB, but I couldn't--and can't--stop thinking about that dog. I teared up (again) when I read about the e-collar.
2) Someone on this forum knows that I felt she was an attention-seeker with some possible clinical psychological issues. I could see, at some point, when the experienced folks on this board began to "handle" her. (Much like talking someone off a ledge.)Everyone gave the best of their knowledge and resources.
3) There is some harsh, in-your-face advice given in this forum, but the nature of some of the posts warrant a no-sugar-coating approach. (Even if the post was an unintended conscious stream of thought--given without thought.)
4) I work and volunteer in animal settings: some people have those people skills, some not-so-much. But as a collective group, there's a balance. And this is what I've seen in LB. A balance.
5) On my end, I gave up trying to help people who don't want to be helped a long time ago. I do what I can in my own corner of the world to make the lives of animals better. THEY GET IT. And from them, as well as people who care and have demonstrated an ability to offer constructive, knowledgeable guidance--I learn more...and am grateful for it.
6) Maria should've been grateful for the help she was offered time and time again and should've used any portion of it. She didn't want it...or couldn't accept it due to a clinical issue that made her continue on the path she walks.
7) THANK YOU, EVERYONE, FOR TRYING TO HELP.
