Michael, I'm so glad Turbo is doing well. We have the same kind of situation here. Kasey has been attacked twice from dogs on our street. The people next door have a dog that attacks and bites. They didn't do anything about it until he bit the mailman. No they are under order to keep the dog in the house at all times - problem is, even with the law, that dog is just waiting for an opportunity to escape when the front door is opened. I fear walking past the house every time we have to.
I got a thing of the pepper gel that Will told us about last year, and keep that with me, but I know that's not fool-proof.

I don't know how I missed this thread until now...but I'm in the chorus with everyone else, right behind you.
Reading the story I was shocked, angry, terrified, then relieved. I couldn't click on the images afraid of what they might be. I'm just so glad the little man is okay.
I hope it never comes to it, but I won't care a bit if the attacking dogs show up missing one day. I never saw anything.
How did Koen react to all this mess Michael? I guess it is safe to assume that by now we'd know if anything was wrong with the little furry rug rat, so Turbo must be okay.
I don't know if I handled the whole situation right in regards to Koen. In the grand scheme of the whole event, I feel I put too much responsibility on him.
You have to remember he will be 3 May 1st.
When the **** went down I told him to NOT MOVE! I left him there, probably 50 yards away. Everything worked out well, but I don't know if I made the right choice. I think I could have seen Koen had he made his way to the fight, but what I "think" doesn't mean **** when a fight is going down. Anything could have happened.
Koen was out of danger and Turbo was not. I went to save Turbo. But it still nags me that I "left" Koen. I think "right" is relative.
When Turb and I were making our way back to the house, Koen said, "He bweedin'? Turbo's hut." It was rather sad. Then he said, "Them dogs are mean!" He gets it. 2 adults don't, but my 3 year old does. Go figure.
What do y'all think about how I handled the whole thing regarding leaving Koen? What would y'all have done?
I can't blame you for handling it the way you did. Dog fights happen so fast that many people can't help but to react and try to stop it.
Plus, at three he is old enough to understand that what is happening is scary. I don't see a three year old running into that kind of situation. I can only imagine the noise!
You did what you needed to do. It would have been far more traumatizing to Koen if you'd have lost Turbo. Kids are resilient and they can grasp the meaning of an emergency at a young age.
You're probably his hero in the whole thing because you rescued Turbo from the big, mean dogs.
