Lots of red flags here John, from a number of us. ALL of which have NOTHING to do with your ability to train your new dog or how you feed it.
GENETICS & good health clearences of the parents are a big part of what you are paying for. Not just a pedigree on paper alone.
I'm going to ask.....is there a particular reason why you are so set on a dog from this breeder or this litter & not willing to look elsewhere. Maybe I'm wrong but this seems to be the way it looks. Is that the case? Just curious.
You can't OFA a dog until after it's 2nd birthday. Things can even change after a prelim at a year old.
I'm mainly wanting the dog based on his dad. BUT I was told by the breeder that both parents are OFA. I'm going to contact him tonight to talk to him. In Illinois you have 24 hours to renig on a contract. 24 hours has past and I DID sign a contract.
I really do like this pup and so does my family. Sigh... I don't know wtf to do now. Everyone saying run!

Isn't buyer's remorse in Illinois 3 days? I would call up and chat with your breeder and tell him about your concerns. He will either be able to supply the paperwork or he won't.
I just noticed something weird. The dam isn't listed as one of the breeding females on the site.
Any chance this was an "oops" breeding and the dam is one of the house dogs?
Or....it could be a female that they co-own that lives elsewhere, or one they sold with a contract stating that they get a litter back out of her. Just speculation......guess it will be up to John if he's interested enough to ask.

John, I swear to you that the people sounding so negative to you -- they have your interests and ONLY your interests at heart.
My heart breaks approximately once a week over an HD story. These folks don't want your heart and your family's hearts broken (HD is heartbreaking; I use the term without exaggeration).
Get all these questions answered in black and white. You will never ever regret it, and you can so easily regret NOT doing it.
Well John,
Can't say I'm surprised. Myself I would have looked into GSDs a little longer than you did. Shrug, but that's just me.
I wish you luck with your new pup.
You're happy, that's all that's important.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that the club you want to join will have an opening soon for you.
