25 years ago the average owner could get by with P.P. dog that would bark & bite a sleeve and people were impressed. but not today.
If my old service Malinois (rip) would have been at the dog wash without a muzzle. i would have been looking for a new job. he didn't like me washing him, let alone a bunch of kids. i can't believe a police dept. would want that liability
Brian,
you brought up several good points, let me think on making my reply, I bet it would answer several questions that other folks are thinking of asking also.
For me a PPD is a dog that's anti-social, right on the edge nervy and a general nightmare to own. It's ALL the dog, teach a call off and not a whole bunch of training required.

Sounds like a lawsuit with fur...and a few missing fingers.
Yes they are & why most people shouldn't own one, as they require skill to handle, proper containment & the knowledge of what you have to keep the law suits at bay. Along with the lifestyle changes, needed to own one, that most people don't understand or don't want to make.
I think that the moat & alligators would clearly be a much better choice for most of the people now wanting to have a PPD in their home but one that will play with every tom, dick & harry & kid that stops by to visit. Kinda defeats the purpose don't ya think? It does to me.
Most people don't have the commitment to training that is needed as the average pet owner can't even seem to train their little fluffy to even come when called etc. How can one expect them to commit to ongoing training needed & the sharp obedience need to maintian a 'trained' dog.
