If you guys are makeing a correlation between herding and protection work. Why haven't I seen Lassie on the street? Drive is drive am I missing something.
Well. . .shucks ma'am. I was only tryin' tu' make a few points. . . I don't like to see a Lady cry. (best Forest Gump immitation)
Trust me, I keep and hold all my angst and animosity in a special place in my heart, that is reserved just for the breeders. I can't fault the dogs. But, then again, I don't think the dogs can read my hate filled posts here, can they? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
You do like Richard better. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Well you can take my four stars and jason's four stars and together they make seven stars. And that's better than five in my reconnin'. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Milt,
Not the show lassies. They suffer the same damage and loss of drive as the rest of the dogs that are perpetrated opon by the A-K-C. Every breed that hits this BUSINESS goes downhill fast. They all become pretty pets. No drive, no working ability.
The funny thing is that I don't think those kinds of dogs even make good pets. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
It's like Titanic baby-
That's right guys, SAD. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Would you agree that the averege pet owner can not handle a dog with strong drives. My dog comes to me and most people are in awe of that. How many people buy dogs for the kiddies?
You are mostly right Milt with that one. I don't have any response. But, I do think that working dogs also have the best nerves and are therefore much better with children than weak/scared animals. High drive may not be best for most dog owners.
Good point. The average person cannot handle a dog with the type of drive that is desired by those on this board.
I like Richard's take, when he takes the position that its not the worst thing in the world for ASD people to desire to get working ability back into the dog. On the other hand, its ridiculous for anyone to come on here and say that American line dogs can do SERIOUS work...forget it.
By the way, I noticed that Jason and VanCamp have become veeeeerrrrry close as of late!LOL
A far cry from those fiery debates men!LOL <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
