Well, where's the master at breeding? ED, what's your input on this.
VanCamp, Yep, you are right I will never see a Working Bloodline In America.
Why, for one I'm too old to last much longer. Two, is because no one that breeds Working Line K-9's has the Ball's to Step up to te Plate and be the FIRST.
Just think of all the European Bloodlines that started in Germany!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Somebody had to say" Hey I think I'll call my GSD bloodlines Belgium, Dutch, or DDR.
What the h%ll we will never do anything in this country but hang on to others coattails and BRAG of the grteat dogs they HAVE!!!!
Todd, Anyway, we started a good debate. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
See what happens when I go out for a little?!?! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Well, I always get a kick out of when people flat out say they would not have a dog from untitled parents. Danu is untitled. I know many people(some on this forum) who are dying for a Danu/CJ pup. The question should not be she is untitled so forget it. The question should be why is she/he untitled?
Anyway, bloodlines, bloodlines, bloodlines. My dogs are Czech lines. I only have 2 WG. The rest are all Czech. Ask me again in 10-15 years what they are.
The thing about the bloodline characteristics, as Van Camp was saying. You can get a pretty basic idea about a dog just based on the bloodlines. Now of course there are exceptions in everything. But a basic idea. Also, you can get a good idea about a dog based on the words used to describe the dog. This is a very subtle thing. However, will tell you loads.
I don't believe we will ever see the quality in numbers as is seen over seas for one basic reason. The breeding is not regulated. There are too many people who would cry foul that they are not being allowed to make a living selling their POS dogs, because big brother(AKC or the like) said they wouldn't register them w/o a title. So for that reason alone there will always be, no matter how hard we as breeders screen and so forth a dog that gets to an American who just wants his puppy to have the experience of raising pups.
Todd, I'll foster one of your pups from DANU your untitled working line bitch. Get the pup titled, send him/her back to you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Then we can work out a deal. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Anyway" MAYBE ONE DAY" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
As long as we have owner idiots like Dallas's that brag about breeding to bitches with bad hips,I will keep saying german. That A?? was embarasing. (as a rep for the gsd) If he talks for the american GSD I prefer to not associate with them in any way.
Thats just me.
Rn
Hate to tell you those breeding German lines do the same crap. Saw it a week or so with a so called respected German line breeder, show lines no less, but German lines. Got her bitch's OFA rating months after she bred her. Thank goodness she had good hips, but she lied all the way through. I thought there was some rule on this?

To me there is a difference in dogs that don't have a number(yet) versus dogs that CAN'T get a number. If you prelim a dog at 15 months(example) and it is good or better, chances are very very good that they will not suddenly become dysplastic.
I know what you are talking about Laureen. I am not saying what she did is right, but I don't even think it is the same as breeding to a bitch that you KNOW failed.
There is a rule against it in countries that follow the FCI standard. Here we have the AKC and they will issue papers to anyone who sends the money.
