Well you are the lucky one here, I wish I had a boy! I love my girls but man would I like a son too. Maybe the next one! It is my youngest one that has ALL the interest, she will definatly be doing something with dogs (I hope?). See if my older one was with me I would have her brain washed as well but she is with her mother during the week and me the weekends, but the little one is here all the time. She is just funny to listen to, "Nero PLATZ, Nero FUSS, daddy he isn't platzing"
My two daughters were in the breed and obedience ring when they were 12-13 yrs old. NO WAY would I have let them do bite work at that age. I do love hearing my youngest, 2 1/2yr old, grandaughter say "MOUSE" in a very commanding voice, when she plays fetch with my GSD and his kong. He drops it like a hot rock too.
Will Just because they hadn't evolved into separate breeds yet, doesn't mean they weren't true dogs then.
I think that to involve more young people even in the 18-25 age group you need to raise people's awareness of the dog sports. When we go to obedience with my husband's dog we see flyers for obedience matches, flyball and agility. But I never see anthing for protection sports and if we weren't at an obedience place we wouldn't be aware of the other dog activities. I think more of the general public would be interested if they saw the competitions but with so little publicity most people don't even know these things exist.
so Will what do we have to do in order to prove we can drag our dog off of someboby or prove that we r resonsible enough that we can work/show our dogs in schutzhund
outside of a dog a book is mans best friend inside of a dog it's to dark to read
Well I'm only 17 and live in Australia, though I've never done any protection training with my dogs( schutzhund banned anyway ) I started in obedience when I was 10 with my Kelpie. I've always loved German shepherds and in recent years have only found out their was a difference in bloodlines I was so glad I found the working bloodlines and their breeders don't focus on sloped backs and angulated legs but temperament and working ability, I hope to become more involved with GSD's over the years
