The Czech lines are based on some limited indigenous GSD influence (dogs that were in country going back to 1900+), a lot of DDR dogs, and some West German dogs.
I really like Czech lines and here's the difference between the Czech/DDR lines and the pure DDR lines. The Czechs were very deadly serious about breeding working dogs, they used DDR dogs that were good working dogs and good producers. The primary influence on the country's dogs was the z PS. They ONLY bred working dogs and did a pretty good job of it. They selected dogs for hardness, dominance, and high high drives. They only bred to DDR dogs that had those qualities, and some did. . .just not many.
As the breedings in the DDR get more and more showy and some lineages of dogs get softer, more nervy, and lower in drive the Czechs bred more and more from their own local dogs bred in the government system or in the civilian ZVV/SVV system. They also went to more "border breedings" using studs from Western Europe.
Thank you Robert. Maybe we can meet in germany on Octoberfest in some tittle village and have a good summer Radler <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
...i'm fascinated with DDRs,if Anja is as representivie of the type as she seems to be...if i knew how to get dogs like her,but less hyperneed to be constantly working,i would have the ideal service dog,and never look at another breed,i bet! <g>
...her lines are Troll,Fero,Gildo Korbelbach,Mink,Crok and Gent, according to her old web page (don't have her pedigree scanned in,so i don't remember it! ). one littermate is a DEA sniffer,i think,if i remember correctly. Her sire was Troldbjerg Robbin, her dam Hausjolles Elsie.
That's what I'm trying to figure out! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I can't find a pedigree anywhere. There are very few pure DDR dogs around anymore. Most are a mix of something.
