Nothing speaks "leader" more than simple attitude. I'm pretty sure dogs can see, sense, and smell any weakness. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Sometimes when I'm romping with my dogs I roll over my back trying to see if anyone would dare try. No one does. If you notice, really good dog leaders don't seem to worry squat about exaggerated growling at their subordinates or 'showing them who's boss'--they just know they're leader, and everything comes naturally. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Happy New Year <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Once you get the behavioral issues under control you guys will be okay and then you won't have to crack the whip that much. I like to get my dogs to where a look will tell them all they need to know. I love setting the dogs up for situations. I've found that it really accelerates their training and proofing. I had to do that with my female because for her first 13 months she never got into any trouble and needed to learn what a correction was about.

You can't supervise their activities, they become more attached to each other than you (thus "ignoring" you), etc. This mostly applies to pups or growing dogs though. Naturally when they're all very well trained and reliable you could cut them some slack.
