When you advertise that many litters ,gee that's a quality breeder right there.SO PATHETIC!!
It's the impulse ,non educated buyers, that keep these puppy mills alive
Jenni, I actually have arrangements with Mr. Colby himself to get a female pup off of him next year. I always rescue, but I'm looking for a pup to compete with so need papers.
The pound refused to pass along Java's papers and just gave me a glimpse. They don't alter there so in the rare instance they get papers they destroy them to try to avoid breeding.
I had a Staffy Bull I rescued, rehibilitated, and rehomed from there. She was the sweetest thing!
Thanks, Sarah. Her coloring does get her a fair amount of attention...blue fawn?
Tiffany-awesome! I didn't even realize you could still get a "real" Colby...wonder how I missed that?
My Chihuahua cost me $125, and my GSD says I got ripped off. I may send him to Will for some training, if Will can handle him . I think it's horrible how these breeds get targeted as trendy must-haves and pay for the hedonistic attitudes that are so prevalent. I would probably not even buy a Chi today (mine will be 7 in a few months), they've gotten sooo popular. Puppy mills won't stop until people stop jumping on every bandwagon, and over-popularizing is a key contributor.
It ALWAYS amazes me that with all the money (And you would think, resources) that celebs have, they still manage to single out some of the WORST breeders for their dogs. It isn't just Paris either. MOST of the celebrity pets featured on shows I've watched have been puppymill-bred.

You want to see jaw dropping prices - this is the place that Paris Hilton bought her "teacup" Chi from:
Just have to put my 2 cents in here...
I have a cockapoo and he's wonderful. I've read all these posts and can really see how this has become such a phenomenon. But I must say that I love my cockapoo and the reason I got him wasn't because of a trend but for the low-shedding coat. And that's why I paid a good chunk of change for him. And I'm very happy with him.
What I don't understand is why people cross a poodle with an already nonshedding dog??? To me the only reason to cross anything with a poodle is to get the nonshedding coiled hair. The people that are buying these hybrids aren't buying them to get the best of both breeds, chances are they don't know anything about either breed of dogs.
But it can't go without being said that a big bunch of these dogs are sooo cute!!!

There is no reason to cross anything with a poodle. Most of the time the offspring is not hypoalergenic - and they are not hybrids - just MUTTS!!!I'm really happy you are pleased with your dog. That being said, when the cockapoo craze took off, these dogs were bred by unethical breeders making a mint selling the offspring of two already inferior examples of their respective breeds. The result was a ton of unwanted dogs in the shelters put there by all the impulse buyers & naive 1st time dog owners who discovered their cute puppies turned into adult dogs with temperment issues & piss poor health. Come tothink of it, I bet those same snake oil salesman cockapoo breeding jerks are the same ones breeding the designer dogs of today!
With the sheer number of hypoallergenic dogs out there, there is no need to breed mutts. None whatsoever.
People can get a poodle. Or a havanese. Or a bichon. Or a maltese. Or a Yorkie. Or heck, how about an Italian Greyhound or a Mexican Hairless? What reason would one POSSIBLY have to pay money for a cockapoo?!
I'm glad you're happy with your dog. I'm sure it's a very nice dog. I'd personally just feel better about supporting one of the reputable breeders of hypoallergenic breeds. And as added bonus, you'll likely pay a heck of a lot less too!
I'd recommend anyone shopping for a "poo-dog" to tour a kill shelter perhaps, before buying. If they still decide to buy an overpriced designer MUTT then at least they made an educated choice.
I personally feel if you (general, not you specifically) want a cockapoo, get one of the mass-produced ones that are dumped in a shelter every single day. The best part is someone ELSE already paid the laughable cost.
