Will you are "cooking" dude excuse the pun, I know you are in that field now, if my money was out there, I would want to take your advice especially the comment that many People would not be able to tell the difference between a genuine PPD dog or a not!
The bottom line is if you are not sure, take along someone and I mean someone who knows what a genuine PPD should behave like and take Will's advice test it, I have seen many times people buy a a Protection dog that could not fight it's way out a paper bag, and then take it to training and ruin a
a dog so bad they cannot even rehome it as a pet...cos why they just wouldn't admit they got an apple when they wanted an orange good luck in your search for your PPD Enrique.
I've been reading everything I can on how to raise a working dog. So here's my plan: First (before I get my pup) will be to buy:
1)Your puppy 8 weeks to eight months
2)Bite training for puppies
3)Building drive and focus
4)How to raise a working puppy
5)The first steps to bite training
6)Basic obedience
Then I want to fly out to the kennel and do the Flinks test for working pups. And After I'll try to find a good trainer. I want to milk everything I can from the DVD's and all the articles on this site.
I think if I can't find somebody to help me then I'll educate myself on the subject and try to do the best I can.
Opinions?
Thanks Rick and everyone else for good answers. I will continue my search for a ppd trainer and good dogs to do it. I am going to gain some more experience in sports before venturing into ppd territory I think.
I am fostering a 12 week old mal pup with nice drive so I am training that alligator between changing bandages on my wounds- my legs have become prey. ouch.
