Thanks Steve, I know a lot of caring people did their best to beat this, but it's always so unfortunate when politics wins over rationality. The fact that Bob Barker may have had such an important last minute influence is just embarrasing...
Does anyone have links to reporting on this?? I can't seem to find any and, no offense to the updates here, but I'd like to read something in depth from the press as well.

Here's what aggravates me about all of this. If ya gots the cash, you can breed. More money in the coffers at the expense of the citizenry. Responsible dog owners are paying the price for the irresponsible.
So....anyone can refuse to have their dogs fixed as long as they dont get caught. And if they do get busted well...all ya gotta do is fix em. What kind of garbage is that? A person could go for years without getting caught. Law abiding citizens will fix their dogs while the outlaws circumvent the law. On top of that, there aren't enough doggie police to enforce the law. Change a few words and you have the gun control scam.
As usual, local/state government has done something half assed. I hope Cally isnt in a hurry to spend that 3 mil they think they're going to save. Nothings going to change thats noticeable.
If you're going to screw the public, give us the full monty. Don't just tease us.

Ditto to everything Howard said, and to add that it's these type of laws that make outlaws out of law abiding citizens. Like I said before, I would have to break that law, seriously and without conscience, which is completely unlike me.
There's still hope - the bill is going to the state senate and needs to pass there before becoming law. Still time to let ALL your state senators know how you feel about this, and that they will be voted out next election if they pass this into law. Go here:

Read the article, then in the box called Action Items, click on "Find Your Senator".

Send ANY letter if you don't like that one..... just make sure you say that you're a registered voter..... I did pick up a few of the points in the AKC letter.
http://www.sen.ca.gov/~newsen/senators/senators.htp
is all their contact info.... many have drop-down click menus to choose the bill you want to discuss and simple forms to fill in.
Over on the left, click "your senators" to get your own senator's info. Simple and quick.
This takes less than a minute.... I timed it.
PLEASE USE THE CORRECT AB NUMBER, which is 1634.

Edit reason: added bill number

Sandy, seeing as enforcing the law is what puts food on my table, I'm glad that I have officer discretion on alot of legal matters. I'll make a deal with you....If I catch you breaking this law, Ill use my discretion and wag my finger at you whilst having you promise never to do it again. Deal? ;-)
