Hey Carol, sorry, just saw the previous page...yeah, I've got a doggie door into the garage now, but I hate giving her that much control over where she is. I can't see her in the garage and she can chew something to pieces in seconds--even fencing! I have it blocked off now with a big piece of plywood nailed to the door. She'll chew thru a fence or just knock it down and then go after whatever looks the most fun like: all, repeat, ALL my garden tools including a 6 foot shovel and of course the garden hose. Some of these were chewed up while I thought she was sleeping...there was no sound. Others I'd catch her jumping over the barrier with something in her mouth trying to pull it out thru the doors into the yard. I put an end to that after my 2nd rake handle was chewed into a million pieces. I couldn't even get mad at her...she did it before I could catch her so it was my fault for not controlling her space better. I just hope she doesn't try to jump my 6 ft fence like she did the dog gates/german sheperd hurdles lol
My doggie door is in the door to go into the backyard from the garage...if I completely block it off where she couldn't get out then I couldn't get out, either
I think my original plan will have to be the one...build a dog run with a plastic house in it and if she doesn't use the house, oh well.
FWIW- the side of our garage has vents. One up high and one down at about ground level. I took the ground level one out and trimmed in a doggie door. Of course, you can't put anything on the other side that would block it, but you could put a workbench above it since the dog could easily fit under.
There are three constants in life: Death, taxes and the love of a dog.
