Yep, baited water can be a lifesaver (literally).
Good job, Ray.
Now don't make the frequent mistake of seeing the poops start to form better and going back to his regular food. You want to keep him on each stage of the bland diet until you see real log poops, showing that his gut is going back to normal. Also, small meals, maybe three or four instead of two, will be much easier on his gut for now. http://leerburg.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/223547/page/0/fpart/4

... I would give him a little overcooked rice mixed with a bit of the yogurt tomorrow morning, then when you see some solid poo a little of the chicken added into the rice as well.
Just wanted to add: Follow Connie's (and everyone's) instructions! Don't make any shortcuts and start feeding him his regular food because he is acting back to normal. Connie helped me once when my dog had soft stool and her advice was right on. Let his gut heal first. *something* had to have happened for him to have gotten sick.
Oh, and -20C is about -4F, that is going to be our weather on Thursday (with windchill of -30C or -22F). Yikes.
He's doin fine today. Solid logs this morning. Then gave him some more baited water and yogurt.
He's been whizzing today like a race horse.
Yeah not literally river rocks, just lumps w/ the scoots.
Gave him his meds, then some soggy, overcooked rice mix w/ a little can food(before I read the thread again)this evening. And also I'm giving him some plain active yogurt throught the day. He really likes that yogurt.
He's very hydrated now! And very Active/Energetic!

Thanks again...
Now that's cold!!!
Excellent. Rein yourself in and keep him on the soothing diet for another day!
BTW, that yogurt is a good addition to the diet. (My dogs love it too.) Fermented dairy is much different for dogs than unfermented. For example, I never give milk or cottage cheese (full of salt, besides) but often give yogurt.
Good job. You will be able to help someone else now. And you will know what to have on hand for the sneaky little dumpster-divers.
I am so glad he is feeling better, and glad he wasn't actually pooping river rocks...that is something that would not surprise me with my dogs.
The yogurt is a good thing to keep in the diet, even when he is feeling totally better. I would for sure keep him on the yogurt through the course of antibiotics and a couple of weeks afterwards to help his gut stay in balance.
