God forbid life happens Connie. Wait, I forgot. 6 kids with the flu and 1 with pneumonia is less important. Talk about priorities people!!
No body said anything near that Tam. Chill out.
This is a dog board, our priority IS the dog.
To bad common sense doesn't go with it. Everyone's over reaction is really sad. You immediately put the worst construction on my posts. You have no idea where I live or if she was able to encounter other dogs nor how long she was out. You're ignorant and a bit scary.
Stay with the damn dogs because you have no real social skills.
*Mod Edit*:
Tam, one more personal attack or remark like that and you're gone.
Trend with care here, you only get one warning.

Is your ad hominem attack somehow helpful to your dog?
Or the 10+ puppies she could be carrying?

It doesn't matter where you live. An intact male will find a bitch in heat, especially a repeat escapee.
Nobody here wants to see unwanted puppies brought into the world, so just swallow your pride and chalk it up as a lesson learned on canine determination. A visit to the vet will not do her any harm either way.

If I remember correctly, a male can smell a bitch in heat from about 3 miles away. Farther, if the wind is favorable.

Well, Tam, I was going by your own post:
"I don't think she is pregnant ... but even still ... she blew my mind!!! LOL! "
If there was no way she " was able to encounter other dogs" .... then where did that comment come from?
" You immediately put the worst construction on my posts."
There is no good construction to put on this:
If I'm reading this correctly, you knew she could get out of the breezeway and put her out there any way - while she was in heat? ...
Yup.
What's scary to me is the casual, "who cares" point of view. "Funny thing, she blew my mind, LOL ...." All of that really bothers me.
I don't care if you think that's "ignorant and scary." I would love to invite you to come and watch while unwanted "disposable" dogs, every one of whom was born either because a human planned the litter or because a human carelessly allowed it to happen, are PTS, a nice little set of initials that means "killed."
Killed in the back room of the shelter, alone except for the unbelievably good people who go through this day after day after day after day, with puppies and adult dogs who are afraid, anxious, bewildered, shelter-stressed .... often eagerly following the shelter staffer because "Yes! Some attention! Maybe a walk or some play!" to the room where s/he dies.
Thousands upon thousands.
There's something to explain to the children.

PLEASE, please just learn from it and fix it.
There isn't much that will rile a bunch of dog people like careless litters, and when you throw in several dozen who are active in rescue/shelter work, there's no humor seen in it at all.
... Nobody here wants to see unwanted puppies brought into the world, so just swallow your pride and chalk it up as a lesson learned on canine determination. A visit to the vet will not do her any harm either way.
I'm sorry I got so angry. ""Ignorant and scary" didn't help.
But I believe that you will do what needs to be done, all sniping aside.

Perfect, Tammy. Just perfect.
I'm having a moment here. Is this thread for reals?
