All the sudden, I don't feel so weird about all the preparations we've made over the past year... I'm sorry to say. I do not have idodine tabs however, and will add those, along with other item's which seemed "lower" on the priority list.
Exactly! We don't have nearly as much as I would like, but we do have a decent supply of basic survival goods.
It seems as if things may be getting even worse with the reactors right now.

The Japanese government is passing out Iodine tabs to those that may have been exposed..........good move on their part!
Sadly, I really doubt that our government would have their act together like the Japanese have if we had a high level nuclear plant accident - here, it'd be every man for themselves.
And yes, I *do* store iodine tabs for just such an emergency!
Twenty-three states give out iodine to keep on hand. MI is one. But you need to live/work within 10 miles of a nuclear plant. I've never picked up mine I will now.

Oh yes, I'm aware that many States have iodine stocks, I just doubt their ability to get them into people's hand when it's needed - think Hurricane Katrina...
