I dunno, but my dog is whining, giving me the hairy eyeball. He's ready for me to go to bed.
He's being dominant-aggressive, isn't he?
"DO NOT" close your eyes tonight!
I survived the night with no bites. We did have some trouble when I said, "Ripley, I need some room.". That command will normally get him up and moving to his side of the bed. Last night he groaned while doing it. Showing more dominance every day.
Oh, and just now, when I woke up and said, "let's cuddle" he did not roll over and tuck his head under my chin as the command requires. Pure defiance! I don't know what I'm going to do with this dog.

ugh. All kidding aside. I've spent 5 years living with this dog, training him, learning him, he learning me, training me. We're like a well oiled machine. Everything works, because I worked, and I adapted to my dog's needs, and he to mine.
I had no idea what I was doing when I adopted him. I gave him waaay too much freedom. I was lucky in that it didn't spoil him. I started taking training classes. My only goal was to build a good enough recall so that I could walk him off-lead and let him swim in the local pond. His ease of learning made me keep taking classes. It is exciting to find out what we can learn together.
My circle of friends became like-minded dog people. Life evolved, or as my mom tells me, revolves around my dog. I argue that it's only natural. I am responsible for everything in his life, so I owe him nothing but my best.
I'm afraid that by surrounding myself by people who behave toward their dogs as I do, both online and in real life, that I find the actions of people like the crazy akinda woman that much more objectionable and infuriating.
I'm thinking of people who have turned to this forum in genuine need, and have followed advice and worked hard with their dogs to build better lives. Thankfully, this type of person makes up the bigger part of the population of Leerburg.
