Yesterday it was a bindi day. She loves my granddaughter so she got to play with her and run around like a nut. (my granddaughter is a natural trainer and dog lover, she is 10)
Then we took Bindi outside to the shopping center to walk around. SHe loves people and has a few human friends at Petsmart and Lowe's. We practiced her healing and greeting. It is hard for people to understand that she needs to sit before being touched. But we did well. Soon she will be getting her good citizen certificate and I want her to be comfortable with people.
Cody did some work for my granddaughter, just a bit. He loves to be trained, what we call play.
Terra reviewed her tricks-sit, down, shake, touch, wait, mat.
Today I plan on getting bindi and Cody out for a walk. Continuing to work on socialization with Cody, and with overall behavior with Bindi. Bindi is a very good dog.
Tomorrow taking Cody to the vet to just sit in the office. He has been so much to the vet that he is pretty used to it. But this has been the longest span between vet visits, one whole month, so I want to get him back into the vet office thing so when he goes next week he will feel comfortable.
Working on heeling with Cody. Cody's biggest area where he needs training is barking. He is a reactive dog and once he barks, he is sure whatever stimulated him to bark is there all day. I have tried to teach him enough, but the behavior hasn't arrived to the point where I am satisfied yet. I usually say enough after he barks, with my finger to my lips. He will stop but begins again in a minute. I can say enough all day and he will continue to bark. So, at the drawing board looking for ways to end this repetition of barking. cody understands what I want because sometimes he will run to the door and bark and then run back to me and sit quietly in front of me waiting for a reward. I believe most of his barking is due to restlessness and boredom. He is a very high energy dog.
Love all he input, look forward to reading all the posts daily
Keep it up. sharon

My helper hurt his back so we won't be doing any protection today. Just going to do some tracking and obedience today. The dogs need baths, so we'll be doing that today too

Today my husband and I took Bindi out to Lowe's (we were buying bird seed) and used that opportunity to introduce her to the inside of the store. She usually goes into the garden center to meet her human friends. While in the store bindi was very well behaved and sat when she was petted by people. She is very cute and draws alot of people to her. She loves people! THen we went for a walk down the mall walk way, it was very crowded, Bindi did very well staying in heel position. She is a great little dog. She is the dog in the middle of the picture. Soon she will be tested for her canine good citizen certificate so I want to expose her to as many situations as I can. While I am on vacation I plan on taking her out.
Worked with Cody doing review. He loves it!
Planning on kicking our training up a notch and getting my pups in shape. I am hoping to get some money to put toward training at a training center, proofing her training she has received at home.
How did it go with everyone, what did you do today?

send away, just starting out. Even Dexter kind of figure that out.
Harley was able to race a solid 20' to the target and back after 5 trys.
Dexter was all good on close range 10' max but happy to do it

It's the week before Christmas so we didn't do much (hey, I've got 4 knitted gifts to finish before Sunday!) but I did work them a bit today.
Kipp, more sheep time. Downs and recalls off the sheep. I'm trying to figure out how to make the pen a bit bigger.
Kenzi did a couple of short searches in the woods.

Tracked Danni at 6:30 this morning. A good way to feed a dog breakfast, except I can't feel my extremities! And it's not even that cold here compared to most of you on the board!
Tonight will be obedience. More heeling and out of motion exercises.

Not exactly training, but last night using markers, I was able to clip all of Sasha’s front nails. Took me almost 3 hours but we got them done. I didn’t actually clip them but just shaved little bits off at a time. Took a break after each nail and played a little bit and then back to the nails.
I know it doesn’t seem like much, but a few months ago, my boyfriend did me a “favour” and clipped Sasha’s front nails. Unfortunately, he got her quick and when she struggled to get away, he pinned her on the floor to finish her nails, getting her in the quick 3 more times. I came home to blood everywhere and puppy trying to hide behind the couch. I immediately banned him from ever touching her again and hid the clippers. What I *wanted* to do was smack him in the back of the head.
We’ve been working on doing Sasha’s nails without a fight and tonight was the first night I finally felt like she was starting to relax and stop worrying that it was going to hurt. Treats for Sasha; lump of charcoal for the BF.
Tonight Sasha’s getting a nice bath so she’ll be all prettied up cause we're going to Grandma and Grandpa’s for Christmas.

Walked her through Downtown Santa Ana to give her some distractions. Worked on curb boundaries and socialized her with more people.
