So a while back I tried playing tug with my then 5 month old GSD using the orbee ball on a string. I wasn't having any success as he kept targeting the string instead of the ball so I put it away and decided to stick with tugs. Well this past week I decided to try it again and he started to target the ball right away! I'm thinking that the ball was originally too big for him so he would go after the string in order to get a better grip. Seems like his mouth is big enough now that he grabs the ball. From my video above a few people (outside of this forum) mentioned to me that I need to work on making him faster and building drive. The orbee ball on a string is doing wonders for this as I can create better misses and whip it around fast. Just wanted to share this story with others incase anyone else has had the same problem.
